HUDSON–A Hudson man faces numerous charges in connection with what police call a home-invasion-type robbery, August 25.
Marcus Eugene Mitchell, 28, of Hudson was charged with first degree robbery, first degree burglary, two counts of second degree robbery, third degree criminal possession of a weapon by Hudson Police Detective John E. Funk, Jr. at the police station, September 6 at 9:10 a.m.
Mr. Mitchell and another person allegedly entered an apartment at 41 North Second Street, where they forcibly stole an undetermined amount of money from a 52-year-old woman. During the robbery the suspects allegedly displayed a handgun. Hudson Police officers and detectives continue to investigate. Arraigned before City Judge Richard Koweek, Mr. Mitchell was jailed in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond.
*An 18-year-old Hudson man suffered a gunshot wound to his arm during a shooting in the city, Thursday, August 25 at 11:32 a.m.
Hudson Police received a number of calls about shots fired near 231 Columbia Street. Officers and detectives went to the intersection of Fourth and Union streets where they found a victim with a gunshot wound to his arm.
City police say a number of crime scenes were involved. They were assisted by the State Police, Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies and Greenport Police. City detectives processed the scenes, which caused the shutdown of portions of Union Street, the 200 block of Columbia Street and surrounding alleys for some time.
The Greenport Rescue Squad took the victim to Columbia Memorial Hospital, where he was in stable condition. The investigation is ongoing.

Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Keith D. Pell, 54, of Schenectady was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a restricted license and two counts of failure to stop at stop sign by Officer Nicolas Pierro at 47 North Fifth Street, July 13 at 11:39 p.m.
Police stopped Mr. Pell after seeing him not stop at two stop signs. He allegedly failed field sobriety tests and refused to submit to a chemical test.
He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and sent to jail in lieu of $250 cash bail or $500 bond.
*Carlton A Jackson, 21, of Hudson was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving with a blood alcohol content greater than .08%, having multiple licenses, no/insufficient tail lamps and having an open container of an alcoholic beverage by Officer Jeffrey Keyser, July 16 at 2:51 a.m.
Mr. Jackson was pulled over at 44 Fairview Avenue for insufficient tail lamps. He was given field sobriety tests after police detected a strong odor of alcohol. His blood alcohol content was determined to be in excess of the legal limit. He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and released.
*Dante Scannella, 47, of Hudson was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and illegally signaling from a parked position by Officer Jason Finn during a traffic stop at 223 Allen Street, July 22 at 2:16 p.m. Mr. Scannella allegedly had crack cocaine inside his vehicle. He was issued an appearance ticket.
*Nicholas James Weissing, 31, of Boca Raton, FL was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to keep right, having an open container of alcohol and aggravated DWI (having a blood alcohol content of .18 or higher) by Officer James Nero, August 9 at 7:29 p.m. Mr. Weissing allegedly struck a parked vehicle on Worth Avenue causing major damage and fled the scene. Police found Mr. Weissing and his vehicle in the Columbia Memorial Hospital parking lot. He submitted to a breath test with a result in excess of .18%. He was arraigned before Judge Richard Koweek and jailed in lieu of $2,500 cash bail or $5,000 bond.
