Ruth Ann Arto, 77, hairdresser, liked opera

DADE CITY, FL—Ruth Ann Wemple Arto, 77, passed away early Sunday, September 18, 2011, at the HPH Hospice in Dade City, Florida, surrounded by friends and family.

Born in Stephentown in 1934, she married her high school sweetheart, Richard “Dick” Arto in 1954.

She graduated from the Austin Beauty School in Albany and worked for a number of years as a professional hairdresser. She later sold real estate for the Stephentown Century 21 office. The couple retired to Florida, settling in San Antonio in 2003.

Mrs. Arto was an avid gardener and enjoyed the opera, ballet and horseback riding.

She is survived by: husband, Richard; son, Michael and his wife, Melinda Arto of West Palm Beach, FL; daughter, Anne Marie and her husband, Curtis Kibbe; grandson, Cameron Kibbe of San Antonio, FL; six siblings, Margaret Lehmuth, Robert Wemple, Frederick Wemple, Jane Thomas, Susan Demick and David Wemple.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 8, 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 732 US Route 20, New Lebanon. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the San Antonio Founder’s Garden Club in Mrs. Arto’s memory.

Florence Potts, 87, church member, bookkeeper

HUDSON—Florence Potts, 87, of Clermont died Sunday, September 25, 2011 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a long illness.

Born August 14, 1924 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Olive (Lasher) Denegar.

Mrs. Potts was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church of Viewmonte and the church’s Busy Bees. She worked as a bookkeeper for the Potts Farm of Clermont and the former Germantown Cold Storage.

She is survived by her son, Bruce Potts of Clermont.

She was predeceased by her husband, Sterling Potts, who died in 1977; a son, Charles and daughter-in-law, Kathleen Potts.

Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, September 28 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, Germantown.

Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, September 29 at Christ Lutheran Church of Viewmonte.

Interment will follow in the Viewmonte Rural Cemetery, Clermont.

Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105-3678.
