Wilbur Stewart, 65, machine operator
HUDSON—Wilbur Stewart, 65, of Hudson died Sunday, January, 1, 2012 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born May 29, 1946 in Boston, GA, he was the son of J.D. and Cora Lu (William) Stewart.
Mr. Stewart was a machine operator at KAZ, Inc.
He is survived by five children, Tracy Coleman, Christine Crumedy, Angela Stewart, Edward Jones and Robert Coleman; his companion, Debra Fernandez; five sisters, Sara Louise Stewart, Dorothy Virginia Williams, Emma Jane Thomas, Minnie Lee Stewart and Mary Frances King; several grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Ludwig Polidor, 91, city treasurer and public works commissioner
HUDSON—Ludwig “Lou” L. Polidor, 91, formerly of Union Street in Hudson, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at the Firemen’s Home.
Born July 4, 1920 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Thomas D. and Mary (Villa) Polidor.
Mr. Polidor was treasurer for the City of Hudson for more than 16 years. He was also the commissioner of public works. He was a member of St. Mary’s Church, the Hudson Elks Club, and a 65+ year member of the Washington Hose Fire Company #3.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen (Picihna) Polidor of Hudson, who he married June 9, 1946; his daughter, Maria Desmond and her husband, William of Valatie; his son, Thomas P. Polidor and his wife Lynn of South Carolina; a sister, Julia Hallenbeck of Hudson; two grandsons, Michael Desmond and his wife Melissa of Connecticut and David Desmond and his wife Melissa of Valatie; two great-grandchildren, Bronson of Connecticut and Jeavonnah of Valatie, and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was offered Wednesday, January 11 at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.
Interment was in Cedar Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Firemen’s Home, 125 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson or to the Hudson Elks Club, P.O. Box 493, Hudson 12534. Gerald Brusie, 71, maintenance supervisor, constable
GT. BARRINGTON, MA—Gerald James Brusie, 71 of Hillsdale passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Fairview Hospital.
He was born April 9, 1940 in Hillsdale, a son of the late John H. and Minnie (Pedell) Brusie.
A lifelong area resident, Mr. Brusie was employed as a maintenance supervisor with the Pfizer Corp./Specialty Minerals in Canaan, CT. After his retirement from there he worked for the CA Lindell Hardware and Lumber Company also in Canaan.
He served his country with the United States Army from 1957 to 1960.
Mr. Brusie was the longtime constable for the Town of Hillsdale. He was a former member of the Hillsdale Fire Company and the Roeliff Jansen Lions Club.
He had attended the Hillsdale United Methodist Church and in his spare time enjoyed both fishing and woodworking.
On November 7, 1987 in Craryville, he married Karen Marie (Stiles) Brusie who survives him at home in Hillsdale.
Besides his wife, he leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Timothy and Karin Brusie of New York City, along with three grandchildren, Mandi Stallman, Shaun Jordan and Courtney Lockwood. Also surviving is a brother, Richard Brusie of Copake Falls; a sister, Sheila Finger of Lincolndale and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Brusie was predeceased by a step-daughter, Cindy Lockwood and his siblings, Howard Brusie and Barbara Cooper.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 14, 2012 at 11 a.m. from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake with the Reverend Juanita Middlebrook officiating.
Friends are invited and may call Friday January 13, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. also at the funeral home.
Interment will be in the Hillsdale Rural Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534.

Allen Van Alstyne, 84, had Red Sox baseball career, financial planner
KINDERHOOK—Allen D. Van Alstyne, of Kinderhook, N.Y., died peacefully Thursday, January 5, 2012, surrounded by family after a courageous struggle with cancer.
Born July 6, 1927, he was the son of Clayton E. Van Alstyne and Martha (Atchison) Van Alstyne of Stuyvesant. In 1944, he graduated from Martin Van Buren High School in Kinderhook .
Mr. VanAlstyne entered St. Lawrence University after serving in the Philippines in the Navy from 1945 to 1946. He graduated with the class of 1951. He was inducted into the St. Lawrence University Hall of Fame in 2003 for both baseball and basketball.
He married Joan L. (Van Dusen) Van Alstyne February 23, 1952.
Mr. Van Alstyne enjoyed a professional baseball career in the Boston Red Sox organization for seven years.
A retired financial planner for the Cigna Insurance Company, he earned his CLU degree at Albany Law School and is a lifetime member of the President’s Club of Cigna Life Insurance Company.
He and his wife raised four children, Lynda G. Van Alstyne (Dean Hurley) of Old Chatham, David A. Van Alstyne (Stephany Hughitt) of Marietta, Georgia, Lori V.A. Slavin (Jeff Slavin) of Medfield, Massachusetts and Dean E. Van Alstyne of Columbiaville.
Mr. Van Alstyne is also survived by six grandchildren, Eben and Mason Hurley, Ryan and Kaitlyn Van Alstyne, Matthew Dresens and Shane Van Alstyne.
He was predeceased by brothers, Clayton E. Van Alstyne Jr. and Roger Van Alstyne of Valatie. He is survived by brother, Richard G. Van Alstyne of Kinderhook.
Mr. Van Alstyne was a very active member of the Northern Columbia County Rotary Club and the Dutch Reformed Church of Kinderhook.
Friends and relatives are invited to attend the funeral service Sunday, January 15, 2 p.m. at the Dutch Reformed Church of Kinderhook on Broad Street.
Donations may be made in Mr. Van Alstyne’s honor, in lieu of flowers, to the American Cancer Society, the Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene or the Dutch Reformed Church of Kinderhook.
