Joan Monahan, wife, mother, Young-at-Hearter
HUDSON—Joan Monahan of Taconic Shores, Copake, passed away Monday, April 23, 2012 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
She was the beloved wife of Robert Monahan for 56 years and devoted mother to Carole and Robert.
Mrs. Monahan was a longtime resident of Taconic Shores, where she was an active member of the Young-at-Hearters club and a member of the Prayers and Squares, the Prayer Quilt Ministry.
A memorial gathering will be held Saturday, May 5, 2012 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 State Route 22, Copake.
Private interment services will be at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.

Edwin Bailey, III, 73, owned tool company
GREENPORT— Edwin “E.T.” Bailey, III, passed over very unexpectedly at home, Tuesday, April 24, 2012. He was 73.
He was born in Hudson in 1938, because his grandfather decided to relocate the family business there from Meriden.
His parents were Ed Bailey, Jr. of Boston and Ruth Irene Boyd Bailey of Wallingford.
His business, Mephisto Tool Company, was his second home. At age 16 he started working summers there and he still packed a few orders on the day he died. Mr. Bailey spent eight years in the National Guard. He had always enjoyed “living” outdoors and using survival skills.
He is survived by his wife, Anna Kastel Bailey, who was born in the Ukraine, and a son, Daniel Bailey, both of Hudson. He was predeceased by a daughter, Susan R. Bailey, who was 47 years old when she died in 2009.
Mr. Bailey leaves a sister, Karen Bailey Fonda, and his brother-in-law, Harry Fonda of Claverack, plus two nephews, Jeffrey and Peter, and a niece, Kristen.
He was predeceased by his sister, Charlanne Bailey Van Wormer of Harvard, MA, but is survived by his brother-in-law, Ken, three nephews, Phillip, Robert and William, and a niece, Mary Burden McGrath.
On his wife’s side, Mr. Bailey leaves his sister-in-law, Sophie Terech (Michael, predeceased), and two nieces, Theresa Ryerse and Lucy Burns, and her helpful husband, Calvin Burns.
Visiting hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 27 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28 at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery.
