Charles Larsen, Sr. (1941 – 2012)

RHINEBECK—Charles M. Larsen, Sr., 71, of Clermont died October 15, 2012 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.

Born May 12, 1941 in New York City, he was the son of the late Carl and Catherine (Rogers) Larsen.

 

Mr. Larsen worked as a rural mail carrier with the Germantown Post Office, owned and operated his own business, Larsen’s Repairs of Clermont.  He was a member of the Clermont Fire Company and a fire commissioner of the Clermont Fire District. He had served on the Germantown Central School Board, served as president of the former Southern Columbia Ambulance Squad, was very active in the Hudson Valley Old Time Power Association, a member of the Cornell Cooperative Extension and the New York State Farm Bureau.

Surviving are: his son, Charles Larsen, Jr., of Clermont and daughter, Stephanie Larsen of Goshen, KY; grand children, Samantha Larsen, Alexander Bridgmohan and Steven Bridgmohan.

Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 19 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home in Germantown. Members of the Clermont Fire company will conduct services at 7:30 p.m.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20 at the funeral home with the Reverend Theodore Gerken officiating.

Interment will follow in the Viewmonte Rural Cemetery.

Lillian Gallo (1934 – 2012)

GT. BARRINGTON, MA—Lillian (Jill) Gallo of Hudson, who was born in 1934, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, October 16, 2012 in Great Barrington, MA.

Mrs. Gallo was predeceased by her husband, William (Gigger) Gallo and her son, W. Lawrence (Larry) Gallo.

She was the mother of Shawn (Tracy) Gallo, Joe (Sheila) Gallo, Ann Gallo, and Glenn and Mary (Gallo) Martino; grandmother to Amanda and James Konderwich, Katie and Molly Gallo, Emma Kisselback and Jennifer and Ronald Montague; great-grandmother to James and Evan Konderwich; loving sister to John “Jake” Halloran and Joyce (Halloran) Barboza.

Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, October 19 at the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.  Services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Askold Lysyak (1944 – 2012)

ALBANY—Askold Lysyak, 68, of Chatham died October 12, 2012 at Albany Medical Center.

Born in Lviv, Ukraine, July 17, 1944, he was the son of Andrian Lysyak and Olga Medvedska Lysyak.

He is survived by his son, Andreii Lysyak; his brother, Georg Lysyak and his sister, Tamara Lysyak, all living in Lviv, Ukraine.

Mr. Lysyak graduated from the Politexnic University (Electrical Engineering 5th Level), eventually ascending to general manager of a 3,500 employee electrical production company in Lviv, Ukraine.

He immigrated to the United States in 1995 and was employed at the time of his death as an estate manager in North Chatham.

Funeral liturgy service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, October 20 at the St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 206 Union Street, Hudson.  A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Burial and final liturgy services will be at St. Resorection of the Lord Ukranian Catholic Church and cemetery in Lypnyk, Ukraine.

Lucille Evelyn Halpern (1922 – 2012)

GT. BARRINGTON, MA—Lucille Evelyn Halpern, 90, of Hillsdale passed away Wednesday October 10, 2012 at Fairview Hospital.

She was born January 17, 1922 in Brooklyn, the daughter of Francis and Isabell (Boggs) Walters.

Mrs. Halpern was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, John Halpern, January 6, 2004; and her sister, Elizabeth Mood in 1988.

She is survived by: her daughters, Lucille Brock Gregory of Hillsdale and Ellen Anne Halpern of Winter Park, FL; her son-in-law, Russ Gregory; her nieces, Terry, Kathy and Nancy Mood, all of Colorado; her grandniece, Dawn and her husband Dane Ables of Colorado; also many cousins who she loved dearly.

Mrs. Halpern was very active in the Girl Scout organization in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn and she joyfully served as a Pixie, Brownie and Girl Scout troop leader for more than 30 years. For 10 years she worked at a local AT&T office in her Bay Ridge neighborhood.

She also loved the fact that she and Betty White were birthday twins—born on the same month, day and year.

Interment services will be held Friday, October 19, 2012, 11 a.m. at Calverton National Cemetery, Islip.
