School dismissed early, but ‘no danger’ seen

CHATHAM – Fire trucks and police were stationed in front of the Chatham Public Library on Woodbridge Avenue in early afternoon Wednesday, October 17. An email from school superintendent’s office to the Columbia Paper stated “There was a substance found in a book in the book drop at the Public Library that caused concern. No danger to students but dismissing early as a precaution.”

The Chatham Public Library is connected to the Chatham Middle School building and the book drop box is near the curb in front of the library.The public library is supported through the school budget and governed by the Chatham Board of Educaiton.
