Deputies donate to police Sandy victims

GREENPORT—Members of the Columbia County Deputy Sheriff’s Deputy Benevolent Association (CCDSBA) donated $1,000 to the Nassau County Detectives’ Charitable Foundation of New York.

According to Detective Christian Migliore of the Nassau County Union, at least 12 members suffered catastrophic losses and have severe damage to homes. Numerous other members sustained damage to residences and cars that have declared losses.

In a press release, Detective Migliore thanked the union for thinking of them in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy.

“The CCDSBA has chosen to render financial assistance to brother and sister officers who have put duty first, to protect and serve their communities during a natural disaster that forced them to suffer personal losses themselves. It is our good fortune to be in a position to assist fellow law enforcement officers in their time of need, and we are happy to do so,” CCDSBA Union President Sergeant William Zincio said in the release.
