CHATHAM—A Greene County man is in the Columbia County Jail in connection with setting a house fire Sunday morning.
The Chatham Fire Department along with Ghent, Valatie and Red Rock were dispatched to a house fire at 18 Jones Avenue, March 10 at about 8 a.m. The blaze was called in by a neighbor who said the front of the building was on fire. Neighbors and first responders quickly extinguished the blaze. Chatham fire officials and the Columbia County Fire Coordinator’s Office requested the assistance of State Police troopers and investigators at the scene of the fire due to its suspicious nature.
Their investigation resulted in the arrest of Willy Timperio, 30, of Catskill for second degree arson, a class B felony.
The defendant was arraigned in Livingston Court before Justice Robert Q. Moore. He was sent to the Columbia County Jail without bail.
Hudson
Lawrence M. Osborn, Jr., 21, of Hudson was charged with second degree criminal contempt (disobeying a court order) and criminal obstruction of breathing /blood circulation by Hudson Police Officer Nicholas Hodges at 71 Prospect Avenue, Hudson, February 26 at 3:57 a.m.
Mr. Osborn was involved in a dispute during which he allegedly pushed and obstructed the breathing of the victim who was the protected party in an active order of protection issued in Philmont Village Court.
Arraigned before City Judge John Connor, Mr. Osborn was sent to jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond.
*Amar D. Williams, 31, of Hudson was charged with trespass and fourth degree criminal mischief (intent to damage property) by Hudson Police Officer Jacob Hoffman, III, at the police station, February 27 at 7:38 a.m.
Mr. Williams turned himself in on an active Hudson City Court arrest warrant issued January 15.
He allegedly went into the D&D Deli after being told on several occasions that he was not allowed on the property. While inside, he allegedly broke a coffee pot on the floor. Arraigned before City Judge John Connor, Mr. Williams was sent to jail in lieu of $250 cash bail or $1,000 bail bond.
*Jamie L. Dupiton, 28, of Hudson was charged on a warrant for third degree assault (with intent to cause physical injury) by Hudson Police Officer James Nero at the police station, February 27 at 4:31 p.m.
Ms. Dupiton allegedly punched and kicked a woman several times in her face and chest, causing swelling, pain and a bloody nose. She was arraigned before City Judge John Connor and released.
Drugs/alcohol
The following face drug- and/or alcohol-related charges:
*Michael Monahan, 64, of Kinderhook was charged with driving while intoxicated by State Police, February 26 at 11 a.m. Troopers were dispatched to the Village of Kinderhook for a possible intoxicated driver. Troopers had a description of the vehicle and checked the surrounding areas. They found the vehicle in the parking lot of the Cumberland Farms in Valatie. They interviewed Mr. Monahan, who was behind the wheel and exhibited signs of intoxication. He was unable to perform field sobriety tests. He submitted to a breath test which resulted in .17 % blood alcohol content He was arraigned in Stuyvesant Court and sent to the Columbia County Jail in lieu of $500 cash bail or $1,000 bond.
*Barbara Wohlfahrt, 51, of Craryville was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated, operating with a suspended license, failure to signal and having an inadequate exhaust by Livingston State Police, March 4 at 6 p.m. Troopers were patrolling the Taconic State Parkway in Gallatin when they stopped a vehicle for vehicle and traffic law violations. When they interviewed the driver they detected the odor of an alcoholic beverage and administered sobriety tests which Ms. Wohlfahrt was unable to perform. A breath test was administered resulting in a .19% blood alcohol content. She was issued tickets returnable in Gallatin Court at a later date.
*Andrew J. Grabowski, 17, of Philmont was charged with fifth degree criminal possession of marijuana, having illegally tinted windows and a loud exhaust by State Police from Livingston, March 4 at 8:45 a.m. Troopers stopped Mr. Grabowski for vehicle and traffic violations. When they interviewed him they detected the odor of marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. They subsequently found marijuana weighing in excess of 37 grams. Mr. Grabowski was issued appearance tickets returnable March 18 in Stockport Court.
*Robyn M. Hunt, 46, of Leeds and her passenger Sarah Wuni Laurentz, 37, of Hillsdale were each charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance during a traffic stop at 17 North Sixth Street, Hudson by Hudson Police Officer Kevin Sweet, February 25 at 9:41 p.m. A small quantity of crack/cocaine was found on the floor of the vehicle they were in. Both women were released with appearance tickets returnable in Hudson City Court at a later date.
*Jerol R. Lewis, 35, of Catskill was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated driving while intoxicated and unsafe lane change by Deputies Peter Grzeskow and Kris Bauhoff during a traffic stop on Route 23 at the Rip Van Winkle Bridge approach, Greenport, March 2 at 2:39 a.m. Mr. Lewis was issued tickets to appear in the Greenport Town Court March 18.
*Richard Reed, 38, of Poughkeepsie was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and failure to keep right by Sheriff’s Office Sergeants William Zincio and Donald Krapf during a traffic stop on Atlantic Avenue, Stottville, March 3 at 12:55 a.m. He will appear in Stockport Court March 25.
*Shaylyn Lyons, 20, of Sleepy Hollow was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana and speeding by Livingston State Police, March 9 at 11:23 a.m. Troopers stopped the Lyons vehicle on the Taconic State Parkway in Gallatin because it was exceeding the speed limit by traveling at 75 mph in a 55 mph zone. When they interviewed the driver, they detected the odor of marijuana inside the vehicle. They found Ms. Lyons to be in possession of a small amount of the drug. She was issued tickets returnable March 27 in Gallatin Court.
*Joseph Spaulding, 24, of Claverack was charged with Mr. Spaulding was charged with driving while intoxicated and Vehicle and Traffic Law violations by State Police from Livingston, March 9 at 9:30 p.m. Troopers were advised by Columbia County 911 of a possibly intoxicated motorist. They subsequently located the vehicle on State Route 23 in Hillsdale exceeding the speed limit by traveling at 76 mph in a 55 mph zone. Troopers stopped the vehicle in the vicinity of Torey Hill Road and determined the driver was intoxicated. Columbia County Sheriff’s deputies assisted at the scene. Mr. Spaulding submitted to a breath test resulting in a .17% blood alcohol content. He was issued tickets returnable in Hillsdale Court March 20.
