Emma Dietter (1921 – 2013)

LIVINGSTON—Emma Dietter, 91, a lifelong resident of Ancram passed away Saturday March 2, 2013 at the Livingston Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born September 8, 1921 in Sharon, CT, the daughter of Ezra and Lucy (Rifenburgh) Houghtaling.

Mrs. Dietter worked as a machine operator and inspector for LPM, B & D and Hudson Cold Storage.

She married Ed Waldron, Sr., and later, December 26, 1945 she married George W. Dietter. Mr. Dietter predeceased her on December 20, 2002. He has been waiting with open arms for her to join him forever.

Mrs. Dietter enjoyed her family, loved flower gardening, bingo, singing and music.

She is survived by: two sons, Ed Waldron of Craryville and George W. Dietter, Jr., of Sparta, TN; five daughters, Barbara Cade of Bells Pond; Claire Moore of Tivoli; Georgianna Waite of Ancram; Irene Miller of Hudson and Patricia Slater of Ancram. She is also survived by 19 grandchildren; many great grandchildren; a brother, Harold Houghtaling; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by four sisters, Bertha Conklin, Mabel Day, Ruth Duprey and Millie White and two brothers, Robert and Walter Houghtaling.

Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon, Wednesday March 6, 2013 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains.

Funeral services will begin at noon. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery.

Anna Deptula (1921 – 2013)

HUDSON—Anna (Janosik) Deptula, 91, of Hudson, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Poland May 17, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Jan and Rozalia Janosik.

She immigrated to the U.S. in 1967 and settled in Hudson. She was a seamstress in several local clothing shops in Hudson before retiring 27 years ago. Mrs. Deptula was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson.

She was predeceased by her husband, Francziszek “Frank” Deptula in 1993, four brothers, and three sisters.

Mrs. Deptula was the beloved mother of Halina “Helen” (Deptula) Koziol and her husband Zygmunt “Ziggy” Koziol of Ghent; devoted grandmother of Krystyna (Koziol) Baker and her husband P.J. Baker of North Chatham, Stefania Anna Koziol of Golden, Colorado, and Antoni Frank Koziol of Binghamton.

A calling hour will begin at 9:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 6 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.

Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

David “Jerry” Hinkein (1937 – 2013)

RHINEBECK—David “Jerry” Hinkein, 75, of Clermont died February 28, 2013 at Ferncliff Nursing Home.

Born June 5, 1937 in Detroit, Michigan, he was the son of the late Walter and Mary (Kunkel) Hinkein.

Mr. Hinkein was a truck driver with GMC of Detroit, Michigan, until he was disabled as a result of an auto accident in 1961. He resided at Ferncliff Nursing Home since 2004.

Surviving are: his sister, Sharon Kline of Livingston; a brother, Ralph Hinkein of Clermont; many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard, Donald and Paul.

A celebration of his life will be held 6 to 8 p.m., Friday, March 8 at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, Germantown.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family in the Viewmonte Rural Cemetery.

Elliott L. Curtis (1940 – 2013)

RHINEBECK—Elliott L. ‘Curt’ Curtis, Sr., 72, of Pine Plains passed away Friday, March 1, 2013 at the Baptist Home.

He was born March 18, 1940 in Salisbury CT, the son of Granville Walter and Zilla (Eldridge) Curtis.

He was a former resident of Pine Plains and Stanfordville and lived in Millbrook for 30 years.

Mr. Curtis worked for the Dutchess Quarry and for Wassaic State School. He then was a bus driver and custodian for the Arlington Central School District for 28 years.

On May 9, 1959 in Ithaca, he married Isabell A. Turcsik.

Mr. Curtis taught Sunday School at the Pine Plains United Methodist Church. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and played on the Pine Plains men’s softball league. He was a horseshoe champion along with his son, John, at Freedom Park.

Mr. Curtis adored his family.

In addition to his loving wife, Isabell, he is survived by: his children, Elliott L. Curtis, Jr., his wife Shirley of Craryville and their children Patricia, T.J. and Benjamin; Michael G. Curtis of Ossining, Tina Wright and her husband Philip of Tivoli and their children Christina and Jena; Wendy LeGrand and her husband Tom of Las Vegas, NV and their children Joshua and Alex; and John W. Curtis his wife Melissa of East Durham and their children Kaylee, Noah, Evan, Owen and Ryan; as well as, great grandchildren, Izabell, Luna, August and Dylan; two sisters, Frances Hart and Shirley Cardinal; a brother, Wilbur Curtis; three sisters-in-law, Ethel, Lillian and Linda Curtis; many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Granville and Franklin Curtis and two sisters, Lolo Curtis and Geraldine Cardinal.

The family thanks the staff and nurses of C wing at the Baptist Home for the comforting care they showed to Mr. Curtis.

Calling hours are Tuesday, March 5, noon to 1 p.m. at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains. Funeral services are Tuesday, March 5, 1 p.m. from the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Pine Plains.
