Frank P. Chiarella (1928 – 2013)

VALATIE—A memorial service for Frank P. Chiarella, who died April 2, 2013, will be held Thursday, April 18, 7:45 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, with the Reverend Joseph Falletta officiating.

Calling hours will be from 6 to 7:45 p.m. prior to the funeral. Memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.

Elsie R. Clark (1923 – 2013)

AMSTERDAM—Elsie R. Clark, 89, formerly of Greenport, died Saturday, April 13, 2013 at St. Mary’s Hospital.

Born June 27, 1923 in Yonkers, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Henrietta Rousseau.

Mrs. Clark was employed as a packer at the Universal Match Factory for many years.  She was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family.

She was predeceased by her husband, Harvey Clark, Sr.; her son, Bruce Clark; four brothers, Walter, Adolph, Joseph and Frederick Rousseau, and five sisters, Wilhelmina Baer, Henrietta Baron, Josephine Rousseau, Louise Wilber and Margaret Rivenburg.

Mrs. Clark is survived by: two sons and three daughters-in-law, Harvey, Jr., and Edith Clark of Hudson, Gary and Coral Clark of Gloversville and Pam Clark of Greenport; five grandchildren, Andrea (John) Yowpa of West Falls, Greg Clark of Gloversville and Jennifer, Eric and Ryan Clark of Greenport; six great-grandchildren, Jason, Josephine, Jackson and Camryn Clark and Ian and Bryce Yowpa; many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 16 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17 at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery in Greenport.

William P. (Bill) Meier (1925 – 2013)

GREENPORT—William P. Meier, 87, of Greenport, formerly of Staatsburg and Hernando, Florida, died at his home surrounded by his loving family, Tuesday April 16, 2013.

Born June 15, 1925 in Peekskill, he was the son of Adolph W. Meier, Sr., and Margaret M. (Bissert) Meier.

Mr. Meier was a member of the Church of St. Joseph in Stuyvesant. He graduated from high school in Peekskill. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served as a radio operator in the Pacific during World War II. He was discharged with honors in 1947. He graduated from SUNY Cobleskill in 1948 with a degree in animal husbandry. Mr. Meier married Leona Van Vorst of Schenectady, June 5, 1948. They were married for 55 years when she died in 2004. Mr. Meier worked as a machinist for General Electric in Schenectady and then worked for IBM in Poughkeepsie and Kingston as a production supervisor for 25 years up until his retirement in 1987.

He is survived by: his brother, Stephen of Peekskill; sisters, Elizabeth Franklin of Rhinebeck, Katherine LeFerve of Red Hook and Madeline Meier of Peekskill; his son, Thomas P. and his wife Debbie Meier of Staatsburg; three daughters, Donna M. Meier of Hudson, Linda M. and her husband Michael Fritz of Red Hook and Cynthia A. and her husband Douglas Salamone of Medfield, MA; four grandchildren, Derek W. Fritz of Avon, CT, Caetlyn L. Fritz of Red Hook, Kimberly Meier of Cranford, NJ, and Kristopher Meier and his wife Melissa of Buffalo and a great grandchild, Aiden James Meier of Buffalo, born in November 2012.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Adolf Meier, Jr., and Charles.

Mr. Meier was a wonderful father and provider. His grandchildren will always remember the walks he took with them when they were young. He will also be remembered with his beloved dog Frosty. Mr. Meier was formerly a member of the VFW in Red Hook and enjoyed running bingo for them for several years. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, golf, gardening and traveling. He was an excellent carpenter. A memorial service will take place at a date to be determined. Memorial contributions are requested to Community Hospice of Columbia-Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.  Arrangements are under the direction of the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport.

Rosemarie T. Catalano (1937 – 2013)

CRARYVILLE—Rosemarie T. Catalano, 75, of Craryville died Monday, April 15, 2013 at her home.

Born in Manhattan August 12, 1937 she was the daughter of the late Mario and Julia (Ambrose) Tanzi.

She and her husband, Clements (Steve) were the original owners and operators of Fairview Pizzeria opened in 1972  in Hudson. She greatly enjoyed her casino trips to Atlantic City and Mohican Sun. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.

Mrs. Catalano is survived by: her husband, Clements (Steve) Catalano of Craryville; son, Stephen and (Annie) Catalano of Yonkers; daughter, Maryann Johnson of Philmont; grandchildren, Amber and (Jesse) Welch, Timothy, Stephen, Anthony and Danielle. Calling hours are Wednesday, April 17 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will be Thursday, April 18, 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson.

Minnie Warn Stark Hughes Gambacorta (1927 – 2013)

MOHAWK—Minnie Warn Stark Hughes Gambacorta, 85, of Philmont passed away Monday, April 15.

She was born November 7, 1927 in Hudson, the daughter of the late Andrew and Barbara Stark Hughes.

She graduated from Philmont High School. She was united in marriage to the late Lorenzo V. Gambacorta (2000) on May 14, 1950. They were married for 50 years. Mrs. Gambacorta was a farmer first and was later employed at the Universal Match Corp., Charter Supply and Pine Haven Nursing Home.

She was a Boy Scout leader and Girl Scout leader from the late 1960s until early 1980s.

Mrs. Gambacorta is survived by: three sons, Lorenzo Gambacorta, David Gambacorta and Paul Gambacorta; two daughters, Stephanie Perkins and Suzanne Gambacorta; two sisters, Violet Wright of Cazenovia and Isabel Hoar of Bolton, CT; eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by sisters, Elizabeth Papas and Barbara Ann Sanders.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 19, 10 a.m. from the Wenk Funeral Home, Chatham. Interment will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Philmont.
