Mary E. Diskin Verney

FAIRBANKS, AK—A memorial Mass for Mary E. (Diskin) Verney, a longtime resident of Chatham, who died October 17, 2012 will be held Saturday, May 11 at noon from the St. James R.C. Church, Chatham.

Inurnment will follow in the St. James Cemetery. Following the inurnment a Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held for family and friends at the Chatham American Legion Post #42, Woodbridge Avenue, Chatham.

Arrangements are with the Wenk Funeral Home.

Matthew D. Pozza (1963 – 2013)

HUDSON—Matthew D. Pozza, 49, passed away May 3, 2013, surrounded by his loving family, after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born in Hudson, June 24, 1963, the son of the late Matthew A. Pozza and the late Beulah M. Pozza (Dingman).

He is survived by a sister, Gail (Bob) Hinz of East Waterboro, Maine; a sister, Jane (Jesse) Turner of Feura Bush; a brother, Nicholas J. Pozza (Janelle) of Chatham; aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his brothers-in-law, Paul and Peter Bogarski of Valatie.

Mr. Pozza was employed at Smith’s Commercial Tire/Van Kleeck’s Tire for nearly 30 years.

Per Mr. Pozza’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A family service will be held.

Louis G. Taylor (1953 – 2013)

ALBANY—Louis G. Taylor, 59, of East Taghkanic died Sunday May 5, 2013 at St. Peters Hospital.

Born July 3, 1953 in Hudson, he was the son of the late George and Mary (Finger) Taylor.

He is survived by his step-mother, Betty Taylor of Castleton, who was an important part of his life.

Mr. Taylor was a postal clerk at the Hudson Post Office. He served his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1972 to 1984, achieving the rank of chief warrant officer. He was also a member of Hudson Elks Club #787, and a member of Hope Church in Lenox, MA.

Mr. Taylor is survived by: his wife, Stephanie of Craryville; his sons, Louis G. Taylor, Jr., of West Sand Lake and Robert Taylor of Claverack; his daughter-in-law, Rebecca of West Sand Lake; four brothers, John Cotte, Jr., of Hillsdale, George Taylor, Jr., of Claverack, John Taylor of Webster and Kelly Taylor of Canaan; his sister, Renee LaPorto of Claverack; several nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Scott and Robert Taylor.

Funeral services are Thursday, May 9, 10 a.m. at the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home. Visitation will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions in Mr. Taylor’s name may be made to Greenport Rescue Squad or Community Hospice of Columbia/Greene.
