Bruce L. Mann (1957 – 2013)
ALBANY—Bruce L. Mann, 56, of Hudson, died Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at Albany Medical Center.
Born April 9, 1957 in Hudson, he was the son of the late Bertrum and Edna Mann.
Mr. Mann was a self-employed contractor in Hudson.
He is survived by: four children, Brandy, Michael, Melissa, and Brittany; his long-time companion, JoAnne Rockefeller; his brother, Cory (Ann) Mann; two sisters, Cheryl (Peter) Mann-Lemay and Shelly Mann; several grandchildren; his nephew, Cory, Jr., and a niece, Kari.
He was predeceased by a brother, David.
Services were held at May 24 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
Thomas B. Wheeler (1927 – 2013)
STEPHENTOWN—On Friday, May 24, 2013, Thomas B. Wheeler, 85, passed away peacefully in the home where he was born December 22, 1927.
He is survived by his wife, Lisa, their seven children, twelve grandchildren and four sisters.
Mr. Wheeler was in the U.S. Navy. He taught school for many years at Onteora Central School in Boiceville and New Lebanon Central School in New Lebanon. After retiring in 1989, he worked at Madden’s Garage in Stephentown. A Visitation Service will be held, Monday, May 27, 2013 from 4 to 6 p.m. at Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 State Route 43, Stephentown.
Richard J. Tregurtha (1949 – 2013)
PETERSBURGH—Richard J. Tregurtha, 63, of Lewis Hollow Road died Wednesday, May 22 after an extended illness under the care of Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
Born in Stoneham, MA, June 6, 1949, he was the son of the late Edward J. and Alice Copeland Tregurtha.
He lived in Petersburgh since 2001 after moving from Grafton where he lived since 1992. He had worked for Confortex in Watervliet, Troy-Bilt in Lansingburgh and most recently at RPI in their maintenance department. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include: his former wife, Susan Clark of Glenmont; a daughter, Alice Furbush of Ohio; a sister, Diane (Joseph) DeVito of Everett, MA; several grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A private memorial gathering will be held for Mr. Tregurtha at his home at a later date. Memorial contributions may be sent to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Boulevard, Rensselaer 12144. The Thomas M. Barber Funeral Home of Petersburgh is assisting the family with arrangements.
Shirley E. Hapeman (1928 – 2013)
RHINEBECK—Shirley C. Hapeman, 85, a lifelong Red Hook resident, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at The Thompson House.
Born January 25, 1928, in Red Hook, she was the daughter of the late Floyd and Myrtle Coon.
She married Oswald “Ozzy” Hapeman, Sr., November 25, 1944 in Red Hook. He predeceased her October 12, 1989.
Mrs. Hapeman was an active member of her community. She volunteered with the Red Hook Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and served as its chaplain. She also was a former member of the Red Hook Senior Citizens.
She is survived by: her daughters, Debra Lown of Red Hook, Linda Simmons of Clermont and Janet Hull of Elizaville; her sons, Roy Hapeman of Saugerties and Ronald Hapeman of Elizaville; her two sisters, Audrey Dykeman of Livingston and Verna DuBois of Milan; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her sons, Mark Hapeman, Oswald Hapeman, Jr., and David Hapeman, Sr., and two grandsons, Ryan Hapeman and David Hapeman, Jr.
Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25, 2013 at Burnett & White Funeral Homes, Red Hook. Burial was in St. John’s Reformed Church Cemetery, Red Hook.
Memorial donations may be made the Red Hook Fire and Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 100, Red Hook 12571. Arrangements are under the direction of Burnett & White Funeral Homes, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook.
