New Leb Dems name candidates

NEW LEBANON – The New Lebanon Democratic Committee Chair Rocky Brown announces the following candidates will be running for office in the November 5 General Election: Matt Larabee for Town Supervisor, Trina Porte and Irene Hanna for Town Council, and Jeff Winestock for Highway Superintendent. Jessica Byrne, running for Town Justice, and Tammie Darcy, running for Tax Collector, are unopposed.

Supervisor candidate, Matt Larabee, a lifelong resident of New Lebanon who is currently a member of the Town Board, is Vice President of his family business. He has also been a member of the Lebanon Valley Protective Association for thirty years, has chaired the town Ethics Committee, serves on the county HAZMAT team, acts as an instructor in Propane Emergency Response and has been New Lebanon’s liaison to the county Traffic Safety Board for a number of years. He is a parent and grandparent, has worked with the Cub Scouts, and is determined to enhance youth activities, noting that a goal of his is to develop a Community Center to serve the young people of the town.

Town Council candidate Trina Porte, currently a six year member of the town Planning Board, is also a volunteer for the library, a CSA member of Trusted Roots Farm, and was the first Chair of the town’s Conservation Advisory Council. She runs a small press out of her home, and stresses her willingness to “listen to your ideas, and represent you with integrity, at the table where decisions are made about how your money is spent.”

Town Council candidate Irene Hanna, a longtime resident, is a retired teacher, having taught in several area schools and whose daughter is a graduate of New Lebanon Central Schools (NLCS). She has been active in the Fire Department, PTA and Parent Advisory Board. Volunteer activities have included organizing the Fall Festival and Herb Fests with the LVBA, Hospice, and Berkshire Talking Chronicle (reading for the blind on radio). One of her goals is supporting responsible growth.

Highway Superintendent candidate Jeff Winestock has spent 24 of his 28 years working for the town as Highway Superintendent. Another lifelong resident, he is proud to have two daughters attending NLCS. He stresses his experience, and his dedication to maintaining a safe and efficient system of roads in the town.

Ms. Byrne as Town Justice and Ms. Darcy as Tax Collector are running unopposed.
