William J. Greene (1941 – 2013)
HUDSON—William J. Greene of Kinderhook passed away October 28, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born April 24, 1941 in Hudson, he was the son of the late William and Marjorie (Whitbeck) Greene.
Mr. Greene graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Vermont in 1964 and subsequently received a master’s degree in environmental engineering from RPI in 1972. Mr. Greene was a licensed professional engineer and land surveyor. He was the executive director of the Albany County Sewer District for many years before retiring in 1996. He also did consulting work and land surveying in the area for many years. Mr. Greene was a life member and past president of Edmunds Hose in Hudson, a past trustee and member of the Hudson Elks Lodge #787 and a life member of the Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530.
He is survived by: his wife, Jane (Zola) Greene; five children, William S. Greene of Kinderhook, Robert T. Greene of Belmont, ME, Christine J. Campion, Daniel J. Greene and Peter C. Greene all of Kinderhook; two sisters, Lucinda Yusko of Raleigh, NC, and Elizabeth Alecksynas of Kinderhook; seven grandchildren, Bradley, Christopher and Daniel Greene, Caitlyn Rahilly, Hannah and Ali Greene and Stephen Campion; one great-grandson, Lennon Greene; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
All those who knew Mr. Greene are invited to attend a graveside service at 11 a.m., Saturday, November 2 in the Cedar Park Cemetery, Hudson. Private family services will be held at his home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O. Box 1000 Dept 142, Memphis TN 38101-9908. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.
