Jane M. Scott (1943 – 2013)
ALBANY—Jane M. Scott, 69, of Cohoes, formerly of Stuyvesant Falls, died October 29, 2013 at St. Peter’s Hospital.
Born December 11, 1943 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Harold and Louise M. (Funk) Shufelt.
Mrs. Scott was a graduate of Ichabod Crane High School and was employed by Hudson River Bank for many years. She was a member and former commissioner of the Stuyvesant Falls Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member, elder and former trustee of St. John the Evangelist Episcopal Church and a former member of Zonta.
She is survived by: four children, Pamela VanAlstyne (Peter Elliot) of Albany, Edward Scott (Chantelle) of Stuyvesant Falls, Kristine Bailey and Andrew Scott (Marie) both of Valatie; a sister, Mildred Drabick of Stockport; two brothers, Frank Shufelt of Greenport and Ronald Shufelt of Ghent; five grandchildren, Samantha, Kyra, Dayna, William and Connor Moon; several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, William E. Scott and two sisters, Marion Folmsbee and Anna Mae Dallas.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Monday, November 4 at the Raymond E Bond Funeral Home, Valatie, with the Reverend Mark Diebel officiating. Burial will follow in Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sunnyview Hospital Foundation, 1270 Belmont Avenue, Schenectady 12308. The family thanks the doctors, nurses and staff of St. Peter’s Hospital ICU unit for their dedicated care and support.
William J. Greene (1941 – 2013)
HUDSON—William J. Greene of Kinderhook passed away October 28, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born April 24, 1941 in Hudson, he was the son of the late William and Marjorie (Whitbeck) Greene.
He graduated with a degree in civil engineering from the University of Vermont in 1964 and subsequently received a master’s degree in environmental engineering from RPI in 1972. Mr. Greene was a licensed professional engineer and land surveyor. He was the executive director of the Albany County Sewer District for many years before retiring in 1996.
He also did consulting work and land surveying in the area for many years. Mr. Greene was a life member and past president of Edmunds Hose in Hudson, a past trustee and member of the Hudson Elks Lodge #787 and a life member of the Kinderhook Elks Lodge #2530.
He is survived by: his wife, Jane (Zola) Greene; five children, William S. Greene of Kinderhook, Robert T. (Jennifer) Greene of Belmont, ME, Christine J. (Kevin) Campion, Daniel J. Greene and Peter C. Greene, all of Kinderhook; two sisters, Lucinda Yusko of Raleigh, NC, and Elizabeth Alecksynas of Kinderhook; eight grandchildren, Bradley (Elysse), Christopher and Daniel Greene, Caitlyn (Joshua) Rahilly, Hannah and Ali Greene, Stephen and Spencer Campion; one great-grandson, Lennon Greene; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
All those who knew Mr. Greene were invited to a graveside service Saturday, November 2 in the Hudson Cedar Park Cemetery. Private family services were held at his home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society, 125 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534 or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, P.O. Shirley E. Jostlin (1935 – 2013)
GREENPORT—Shirley E. Jostlin, 78, of Greenport passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at her residence.
Born March 27, 1935 in West Ghent, she was the daughter of the late Clyde and Ann (Galaridy) Garrison.
Mrs. Jostlin was a bookkeeper for the W. T. Grant Department Store in Greenport.
She was predeceased by her husband, William W. Jostlin, and her brother, Lester Garrison.
Mrs. Jostlin is survived by: three devoted daughters, Barbara Briscoe and her husband Michael, of Stottville, Teri Perfect and her husband John of Florida, and JoAnn Jostlin of Long Island; two grandsons, Shawn Briscoe of Stottville and James Begraph of Florida; one granddaughter, Heather LaCasse of East Greenbush; five great-grandsons, and many nieces and nephews.

Peter Zapp (1948 – 2013)
HUDSON—Peter B. Zapp, 65, of Claverack passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital with his loving family by his side.
Born in Hudson on October 3, 1948, he was the beloved son of Janis (Halstead) Aulabaugh of Florida, Suzanna Zapp of Greenport, and the late Michael Zapp.
Mr. Zapp was a truck driver for George Hildebrandt Trucking in Claverack. He enjoyed working for his father at Mike Zapp Construction. He was a member of Greenport Pumper #1, the fire police, the Greenport Rescue Squad and the Federation of Polish Sportsmen. He was a former deputy for the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office and an avid hunter and fisherman. His daughter and grandchildren were his life.
In addition to his mothers, he is survived by: his devoted wife, Julie (Pearson) Zapp of Claverack; his loving daughter, Wendy (Stephen) Zapp-Tiberio of Claverack; four beloved grandchildren, Amanda Julia Zapp of Claverack, Ashley Marie Zapp of Claverack, Anna Dorthea Tiberio of Claverack and Stephen Peter Tiberio of Claverack; four siblings, Suzanne Zapp of East Greenbush, Michael Zapp of Greenport, Roberta Shepherd of Florida, and John Sapcoe of Greenport; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, JoAnna and Kim.
Services were conducted Saturday, November 2 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Interment was in the Reformed Dutch Cemetery in Claverack.

Ann A. Mitchell (1940 – 2013)
HUDSON—Ann A. Mitchell, 73, of Ghent, passed away Wednesday, October 30, 2013 at Hospice at Columbia Memorial Hospital surrounded by her family.
Born in Hudson on October 5, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Elizabeth (Stevens) Mottoshiski.
Mrs. Mitchell worked in the housekeeping department at the Fairview Hospital in Great Barrington, MA, for more than 26 years. She was a lifelong area resident.
She is survived by: her husband, Maurice Mitchell of Ghent; two daughters, Rhona Mitchell of Pittfield, MA, and Stephanie Poucher of Ghent; two sons, Kevin Mitchell of Warwick and Russell Mitchell of Wallkill; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three sisters; three brothers; many nieces and nephews.
Services were Saturday, November 2 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
