Clyde A. Hotaling, Jr. (1957 – 2013)

KINDERHOOK—Clyde A. Hotaling Jr., 56, of Kinderhook died November 2, 2013 at his home.

Born July 31, 1957 in Hartford, CT, he was the son of the late Clyde A. and Doris (Stalker) Hotaling, Sr.

Mr. Hotaling worked in the respiratory therapy field for many years. He was a history buff, an avid outdoorsman and kayaker. He enjoyed sports, especially the Boston Red Sox.

He is survived by: four children, Amy Cooper of Nassau, Andrew Hotaling (Jessica) of Suffolk, VA, Ashley Hickey (Marcus) of Ghent and Aaron Hotaling of Cambridge; two brothers, Tim Hotaling of Stuyvesant Falls and Todd Hotaling of Valatie; seven grandchildren, Logan, Jackson and Noah Cooper, Calla Hotaling, Natalie and Lucas Hickey, Dylan Hotaling and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Valatie.

John A. Champlin (1941 – 2013)

HUDSON—John A. Champlin, 72, formerly of Long Island, died Thursday, October 31, 2013 at the Firemen’s Home, where he had been a resident since 1993.

Born October 28, 1941 in Bay Shore, Suffolk County, he was the son of the late Ellen and Nelson Champlin, Sr.

Mr. Champlin was a plumber on Long Island and also worked various other jobs. He was a life member of the Sayville Fire Department.

He is survived by: his brother, Richard Champlin; four nephews, Nelson Champlin, III, Gerard Champlin, Michael Champlin and John Champlin; two nieces, June Harvey and Mary, and his sister-in-law, Josephine Chaplin.

Services were held November 4 in the Firemen’s Home Chapel, 125 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson. Burial followed in the Firemen’s Home Cemetery.

Alan G. Seebode (1947 – 2013)

VALATIE—Alan “Al” Seebode, 66, of Valatie passed away at home, Monday, November 4.

He was born May 5, 1947 in Catskill to Herman and Margaret (Carney) Seebode.

Mr. Seebode was a quiet, unassuming man who loved his family more than anything. He embraced modern technology and enjoyed the opportunities it afforded him.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Mr. Seebode was employed by Kinderhook Toyota for many years.  A loyal Yankee fan, avid reader and devoted family man, Mr. Seebode enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren participate in sports, music and theater; and he enjoyed playing with his dog, Lucy.

He is survived by the love of his life, wife and best friend, Barbara (Kelly) Seebode; his loving children, Monica M. of Mason, OH, Rich (Monica L.) of Delmar, Christy Shpur (Jason) of Queensbury, and Michael of Oracle, AZ. “Boompa” will be greatly missed by Ben and Josh Shpur and Maggy, Allie and Richie Seebode.

Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church, Valatie. Burial will follow in Our Lady Help of Christians Cemetery in Glenmont. Calling hours will be Thursday, November 7 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Frank “Dennis” Rogacki (1941 – 2013)

HUDSON—Frank “Dennis” Rogacki, 72, of Hudson died Monday, November 4 at Community Hospice in Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in New York City, January 6, 1941, he was the son of the late Raymond and Helen (Braciezewski) Rogacki.

Mr. Rogacki served in the U.S. Army in Korea from 1956 to 1959. He was a school bus driver for 18 years with the New Lebanon Central School District, and was a member of the Canaan Rifle Club. He was a certified NRA safety instructor and life member of the NRA.

He is survived by: his wife, Sandra Lubeskie Rogacki at home; three sons, Dennis and (MaryAnne) Rogacki of Spring Hill, FL, Donald and Shennon Rogacki of Stephentown and Joseph and Jessica Rogacki of Saco, ME; one daughter, Lisa Rogacki of Hudson; grandchildren, Monica, Makaylia, Holly and Laura and one great-grandson, Joseph Anthony.

He was predeceased by siblings, Raymond Rogacki and Ann Slawski.

A memorial service will be held Friday, November 8 from noon to 1 p.m. at the Sacco McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Prayers begin at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Mike Zwingelberg of the Maranatha Christian Church officiating. Mr. Rogacki’s ashes will be buried in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

Ronald Wood (1959 – 2013)

HUDSON—Ronald Wood, 54, of Greenport, passed away Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born May 5, 1959 in Hudson, he was the son of Mary Augustus Whiteside of Hudson and the late Ernest Calvin Wood, Sr.

For the past year, Mr. Wood was a counselor at Brookwood Youth Facility. He was a graduate of Hudson High School Class of 1977 and received his bachelor’s degree from SUNY Oneonta in 1983. He worked extensively with youth in various agencies throughout New York State. He was also a teaching assistant in the Syracuse City School District.

Mr. Wood was a sports enthusiast. He loved weight-lifting and training. In high school, he excelled in track, football, and basketball and at SUNY Oneonta he was on the basketball team. He was an amateur boxer and was the 1993 Amateur AAU Boxing Champ for the Niagara Region 165-pound weight class. Mr. Wood was an avid fisherman and enjoyed photography.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion, Yvette Wood; two children, Shanequa Wood and Julian Wood; his brother, Ernest C. Wood, Jr. (Jeannette Henson) of Ohio; four sisters, Valerie A. Fields (Parnell) of Winter Haven, FL, Darlene A. Green (Eugene) and Patricia Williams (Tyronn), both of Tampa, FL, and Michelle Ivery (Kevin) of Hudson; two step-children, Dashaun and Lawrence, and several nieces and nephews.

Services were conducted Monday, November 4 at Shiloh Baptist Church in Hudson. Burial was in Cedar Park Cemetery. A repast was held at the Savoia following the burial. Arrangements were with the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home.
