COPAKE—Town Supervisor Jeff Nayer has postponed tonight’s (Saturday, December 14) Holiday Light Parade and associated activities at the Town Park until next Saturday, December 21 due to weather concerns.
The National Weather Service in Albany has issued a winter storm warning in effect from 8 a.m. Saturday, December 14 to 1 p.m. Sunday, December 15. The forecast calls for heavy snow with accumulations of 6 to 12 inches in 24 hours.
The parade, organized by the Copake Park and Recreation Commission will start from the Copake firehouse, 390 Center Hill Road at 5:30 p.m.; line up at 5 p.m.
The parade of lighted vehicles, people and animals moves through the Copake hamlet and ends at the Copake Park building, Mountain View Road, where Santa Claus and his elves give gifts to all the good boys and girls. All are invited to warm up around a bon fire with hot chocolate and cookies.
Anyone interested in participating in the light parade, should call 518 329-1234 for a form or contact Krista Goodacre at 518 929-3270. The event is sponsored by the Town of Copake and organized by the Park and Recreation Commission.
