Patricia M. Schiller (1920 – 2013)
FLORIDA—Patricia M. Schiller of Valatie and Boynton Beach, FL, passed away peacefully in Florida, Sunday December 29, 2013 with her grandson, Jeffrey McLaughlin by her side.
Born September 8, 1920 in East Greenbush, she was the daughter of Louise and Morris Stone.
Mrs. Schiller was predeceased by her husband, Hubert Schiller and her sisters, Elizabeth Ticknor and Louise Korfhage.
Mrs. Schiller is survived by: her children, Dennis and daughter-in-law Maclyn Gavin of Pittsboro, NC, Teresa Gavin of Albany, Margaret Gavin of Arlington, MA, and Edward and loving daughter-in-law, Deanna Schiller of Lockport; also 10 grandchildren who adored her, Cassie, Tobias Nathan, Jeffrey, Michael, Kathryn, Gabriel, Tyler, Matthew and Emily; niece and nephew, Chrissy and Richie Korfhage and dear family friend, Bob Mihle.
Mrs. Schiller was a fiercely independent and a successful business woman; starting Stone’s Mobile Manor in 1958 on her family’s land in Valatie. She founded the Pumpkin Patch nursery school; established her own real estate company; sold Christmas trees and ran the family’s fruit stand business.
Her greatest joy was her family and especially her grandchildren. She was always ready to take one of them on an adventure with most trips ending at DisneyWorld. Her generosity and loyalty to her family is her legacy.
She worked hard her whole life and enjoyed traveling and camping her way around the United States. Mrs. Schiller loved the slot machines, the sounds of a big win, the Yankees, college and pro-basketball, bingo, the ocean and her Grand Marquis car.
A celebration of her life will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie from 3 to 6 p.m. with a service commencing at 4:30 p.m. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at a later date.
