Leonard W. Lashley (1926 – 2014)
HUDSON—Leonard W. Lashley, 87, of Hudson, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born December 1, 1926 in Harlem, he was the son of the late Stephen and Gladys (Byrd) Lashley.
Mr. Lashley was a bus driver for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority in New York City. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned the World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.
Mr. Lashley is survived by his devoted wife, Evelyn (Brock) Lashley of Hudson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2014 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 14 Warren Street, Hudson.

Peter J. Bruno, Sr. (1927 – 2014)
HUDSON—Peter J. Bruno, Sr., passed away at the Firemen’s Home, January 4, 2014.
He was born in Athens, New York, August 4, 1927 to Mary and Pasquale Bruno.
He spent most of his life living in Athens.
Mr. Bruno served in the U.S. Army. He was a longtime member of the Makawomac Fire Department and spent many years as its chief. He retired from Peckham Industries where he was employed as the plant manager.
He was a devoted husband to his wife of 65 years, Dorothy (Betty) of the Firemen’s Home. He is also survived by: his sons, Peter Jr., wife Louanne and Steven; his granddaughters, Elizabeth Yanez and Angelina Bruno; great-granddaughters, Lilianna and Allison Yanez, all of Florida; his brother, Richard Bruno of Coxsackie.
He was predeceased by his parents and his brothers, Charles Bruno and Pasquale Bruno.
A memorial service will be held at the Firemen’s Home, Tuesday, January 7 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Firemen’s Home Administrator, 125 Harry Howard Avenue, Hudson 12534. He received excellent care there for the past four years.

Jeanne McAlister Griffiths (1957 – 2013)
HUDSON—Jeanne McAlister Griffiths, beloved daughter, caring sibling, adoring mother and soul mate of her spouse, died December 30 in Hudson.
She was 56 years young.
Ms. Griffiths attended Friends Seminary in New York City, graduated from the University of Rochester and attended Cornell School of Hotel Management in Paris and Ithaca. Upon graduating, she entered the world of hospitality, where she held major roles in the banquet departments of some of the finest hotels in New York, including Hotel Maclowe, the Stanhope and the Waldorf Astoria.
She and her husband, Chip, left the hotel world to start their catering company, Tastefully Done, which they operated in the New York City area for nearly 20 years. As her own boss, Ms. McAlister with her partner, Chip, took as much pride in the freedom to attend every one of their children’s sports games as she did in the wonderful events they hosted for their clients.
In 2010, they left the greater New York City area and relocated upstate to Hudson.
Ms. McAlister is survived by: her parents, Irma and Andrew Hilton; her two younger sisters, Debbie McAlister Jones and Liz Hilton Segel; her brothers-in-law, Christopher Jones and Seth Segel; her nephews and niece, Kyle, Cary, Conor, Daniel and Kate. She will be deeply missed by them and their two sons, Brad and James; her husband and best friend, Chip, and her 11 month-old German Shepherd puppy, Dutch.
A memorial service will be held at the Friends Seminary Meeting House in New York, corner of East 15th Street and Rutherford Place, Friday, January 10 at 6 p.m.

Willie McKissick (1921 – 2014)
GERMANTOWN—Willie McKissick, 92, of Germantown died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at his home after a long illness.
Born October 21, 1921 in Laurens, Georgia, he was the son of the late J.B. and Zola (Shannon) McKissick.
He served as a truck driver in the U.S. Army during World War II. Prior to his retirement, he had worked on the Hettling Farm in Clermont.
Mr. McKissick enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include: his wife, Mamie (Robinson) McKissick, whom he married in 1974 in Clermont; two sisters, Nattie Lee Williams of Florida, and Hattie Lou Coley of Rochester; several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by nine brothers and sisters.
A celebration of his life will be held at the convenience of the family.

Nicholas N. Kounovsky (1950 – 2014)
CHATHAM—Nicholas Kounovsky passed away Thursday, January 2 after a brief battle with cancer.
He was born in New York City to Nicholas, Sr., and Galena Kounovsky, February 19, 1950.
He spent his life in construction, most recently at L & B Furniture in Hudson.
Mr. Kounovsky is survived by: his wife, Pamela Raup-Kounovsky; three children, Anna, Phillippa and Peter; a sister, Kyra West and her husband Danny West in Friendship, Maine; many cousins, nieces and nephews in the U.S. and France.
No funeral services will be held in accordance with Mr. Kounovsky’s wishes.
