Christina M. Simmons (1948 – 2014)
STOTTVILLE—Christina M. Simmons, 66, of Stottville passed away Saturday, April 19, 2014 at her residence with her family by her side.
Born March 28, 1948 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Mabel Krauss.
She was a Medicare biller at Columbia Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Simmons was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Stockport and a member of the Senior Citizens Group.
She was the beloved mother of Robert Simmons, Jr., and his wife Kelly of Hudson; devoted grandmother of Matthew and Jonathon Simmons, both of Hudson; loving sister of Kenneth (Judy) Krauss of Texas, Charlene Johnson of Connecticut, and Virginia Padlaski of Chatham. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews and many in-laws.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Simmons, Sr., in 2007.
A calling hour will begin at 1 p.m., Wednesday, April 23 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home. Services will follow at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the St. John’s Episcopal Cemetery in Stockport.

Chester P. Chappuis, Sr. (1924 – 2014)
PITTSFIELD, MA—Chester P Chappuis, Sr., of 2962 County Route 7, Hillsdale passed away peacefully at age 89 on Easter Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Berkshire Medical Center.
He was born November 12, 1924 in New Milford, CT, a son of the late Howard S. and Lois (Perkins) Chappuis.
On April 20, 1952 in Danbury, CT, he married Anna Elizabeth Leach Chappuis.
In his younger years, Mr. Chappuis worked with a landscaping company, mainly lawn care. He owned and operated Chappuis Brothers Farm with his brother Curtiss on the Underwood Farm, Route 22 in Hillsdale from 1952 until his retirement in 1991. His lawn mowing business included 10 to 15 lawns in addition to farming and several he mowed up until 2008 at the of age 83.
Mr. Chappuis was an active long-time member of the North Hillsdale Methodist Church and was always known to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He bowled weekly well in to his 80s.
Surviving are: his wife, Anna of Hillsdale; his three children, Jane Weaver of Hillsdale, Chester Chappuis, Jr., of Bridgeport, Shirley Weaver of Altenburg, MO; his beloved grandchildren Trish, Joshua, Krista, Sarah, Laura, Micah, Benjamin, Tamara, Peter, Linzie, Marissa and Kaitlyn; great-grandchildren, Johnathen, Cameron, Zoie, Ethan, Wyatt, Jessalyn, Alexis, Nathan and Emalynn. He also leaves his brother, Curtiss S. Chappuis of Hillsdale, along with many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his brother, Howard S. Chappuis, Jr.
Memorial services will be held Wednesday, April 23 at 1 p.m. at Faith Bible Chapel, 222 Silver Mountain Road, Millerton. Pastor William Mayhew will officiate.
Interment will follow the reception at the North Hillsdale Cemetery.

Lucia Cusumano (1928 – 2014)
HUDSON—Lucia (Tartaglia) Cusumano, 85 years old, of Hudson was called by her Heavenly Father, April 21, 2014 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born November 4, 1928 in Francofonte, Italy, she was the daughter of Angelo Tartaglia and Maria Nivia (Bontempone) of Italy.
Mrs. Cusumano was predeceased by her husband, Salvatore Cusumano of Hudson; her brother, Paolo and sister, Sara of Italy.
She is survived by: her son, Antonino (TJ) Cusumano and daughter-in-law, Josephine of Hudson; her daughter, Sebastiana of Hudson; three grandchildren, Salvatore Cusumano, Lucia Burger and Sara Cusumano, their spouses and six great-grandchildren, all of Hudson.
Mrs. Cusumano was a talented seamstress, but her greatest joy was cooking delicious meals for her family and friends. Mrs. Cusumano was adored by all who knew her. She had a loving and generous heart and was always thoughtful and giving to others.

Elaine Louise Craft (1929 – 2014)
HUDSON—Elaine Louise Craft passed away peacefully at Columbia Memorial Hospital, April 21 with her family by her side.
She was born February 9, 1929 to (Alle) Detmer and Hilda Schroeder.
In 1947, she graduated with honors from Julia Richman High School, where she starred as a swimmer.
Mrs. Craft is survived by her best friend and companion, Dakota; children, Tim Legget (Marcia) of Ghent, John (Joanne) Craft of Ghent, Cherylee Craft of Ghent, Amanda Craft (Bill Gleason) of Old Chatham, Amy Cornelius (Bob) of Valatie, Bill Craft (Helene) of Hudson; close friends, Linda Antolick, Tom Pottenburgh and Marilyn Morgan.
Mrs. Craft was blessed with 10 grandchildren, Kevin and Gregg Legget, Ashley Allsop, Brittany and Grace Cornelius, Chet Blass, Miranda Trowbridge and Jena Lincoln, Audrey and Steven Craft and nine great-grandchildren, Karissa, Brennen, Chester Ryan, Ellie, Skylar, Daisy, Ashton, Madyson and Bayley Elaine.
Mrs. Craft, a/k/a, Blondie, Lady Pace, was predeceased by her husband, Bill Craft.
She was employed with the Training School for Girls for many years until its closing then continued her career at Brookwood Center, from where she retired.
Mrs. Craft loved horses. She was the rodeo queen at the Painted Pony Ranch when she was 18 years old. She also was a founding member of the Circle Saddle Club of Columbia County. Mrs. Craft enjoyed harness horseracing as well; she owned many harness horses, such as Brindle Lass, with her husband and raced them on tracks throughout New England. Mrs. Craft also served as the clerk of the course for harness racing at the Columbia County and Dutchess county fairs and was a member of the Empire Driving Club.
After her retirement, Mrs. Craft enjoyed traveling and visited all 50 states. She was an avid reader.

Patricia L. Coons (1968 – 2014)
NASSAU—Patty (McCarty) Coons, 46, of Nassau passed away April 21, 2014 peacefully surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Albany to the late Michael and Ellouise McCarty.
Ms. Coons enjoyed fun games, was an avid computer whiz, watching movies on “Starz,” her M&M collection but mostly enjoyed cooking for and being around her loving family. She had previously worked for the Joys, Ames and K-Mart dept stores.
She leaves behind her large and loving family: two sisters, Michelle M. (Fred) Guilefuss of Stillwater and Louann (Dwight) Crownover of Central Nassau; five brothers, Terry Law, Michael (Minnie) McCarty, Matthew (Tracy) McCarty, all of Central Nassau, Bert Law of Ghent, Mark (Candy) McCarty of Lebanon; her dear uncle, “Mosey”; 10 nieces and nephews and many cherished cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service, 7 p.m., Thursday, April 24 from the William J. Rockefeller Funeral Home, Inc., 165 Columbia Turnpike, Rensselaer. Friends may call at the funeral home, Thursday from 4 to 7 p.m.
The family thanks the Hoags Corner Rescue Squad and the ICU staff at Albany Memorial Hospital for their efforts.
