Harriet L. Miller (1933 – 2014)

GT. BARRINGTON, MA—Harriet L. Miller, 80, of Hillsdale passed away Friday June 6, 2014 at the Great Barrington Health and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born August 29, 1933 in Copake, a daughter of Leland “Buster” and Jessie (Hotaling) Edelman.

She graduated from Roe Jan High School in 1951 and later graduated with honors from the Columbia Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in Hudson. She was employed by the hospital for more than 25 years.

Harriet was predeceased by her husband, David Robert Miller, whom she married October 1, 1954.

Surviving are: her children, Karen Miller of Exeter, CA, Deborah Chaikowski (Paul) of Mellenville, Lynn McCann (Kevin) of Copake and David Miller, Jr., of Hudson. Also her grandchildren, Alicia Berger of Fort Plain, Amy McCann and Robert McCann, both of Copake, Sierra Miller of Troy and Molly Frasca of Great Barrington, MA; her sisters-in-law and lifelong friends, Peggy Edelman and Lois Edelman, both of Hillsdale; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her husband, she was predeceased by brothers, Leland and Robert Edelman.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 11, 2014, 11 a.m. from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, Route 22, Copake Falls.

Friends are invited and may call also on Wednesday from 10 to 11 a.m.

Interment will follow in the Copake Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to a local chapter of the American Cancer Society or to the Alzheimer’s Association of Northeastern New York, 4 Pine West Plaza, Suite 405, Albany 12205.

Howard Burton Wilbur (1935 – 2014)

GHENT—Howard Burton Wilbur, 79, a lifelong Millerton resident died peacefully the morning of June 4, 2014 at Whittier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.

Mr. Wilbur was a professional tree surgeon at Carbury Tree Service in Sharon, CT, for more than 30 years.

In his spare time he was an avid vegetable gardener who enjoyed being outdoors.

Born February 1, 1935 in Sharon, CT, he was the son of the late Webster A. and Charlotte (Wagner) Wilbur.

Mr. Wilbur attended local schools. On March 20, 1957 in Roscoe, he married Doris Ellis. Mrs. Wilbur predeceased him December 23, 2008.

Survivors include: his six children, Kathy Wilbur of  Vernon, CT, Cindy Jones and her husband Grady of North Carolina, Loriann Nelson and her husband Ricky, also of North Carolina, Allen Wilbur and his wife Betty of Amenia, Howard Wilbur and his wife Tanya of Copake and Gordon Wilbur of Millerton; two brothers, Freddy Wilbur of Pine Plains and Jack Wilbur of Goshen; a sister, Rita Rundall of Pine Plains; a son-in-law, Douglas Sands of Millerton; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his daughter, Susie Sands of Canaan, CT, and 12 siblings.

At Mr. Wilbur’s request there will be no visiting hours.

Graveside services and burial took place Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Irondale Cemetery, Route 22, Millerton, with the Reverend Zora Cheatham officiating. Mary Frances (Davi) Young (1951 – 2014)

CATSKILL—Mary Frances (Davi) Young, 62, of Catskill passed away Monday, June 9, 2014 surrounded by her loving family at home.

Born July 24, 1951 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late John S. and Mary (Lippera) Davi.

Mrs. Davi was a loving wife, mother, “nannie”, sister and foster mother. She was Hartford, Connecticut’s, 100th heart transplant patient. She loved ceramics, crafts, gardening and cooking.

She is survived by: her beloved husband, Robert “Bob” Young of Catskill; her devoted daughters, Andrea Young Harvey (Chris) of Catskill and Meghan Young of Greenville; her loving granddaughters, Mya Lynn Harvey and Xylia May Young; her devoted brother, Michael Davi and his wife Kathi of Cape Coral, Florida; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Also surviving are those who came to know Mrs. Young as “Mom”, Jeffrey Workman and Jessica Abel, both of Catskill, and Rachel Caceres of Long Island.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, John Davi and her sister, Andrea Davi DiCintio.

Calling hours are Wednesday, June 11, 4 to 8 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

Prayers will be held Friday, June 13, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Friday, 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson.

Interment will be in the Catskill Rural Cemetery.
