Harriett W. Dolan (1925 – 2015)

NEW YORK CITY—Harriett W. Dolan, 89, a resident of Barnwell Health facilities died January 21, 2015 at Weill Cornell Medical Center.

Born September 21, 1925 in Valatie, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Isabel (Hotaling) Whiteman.

Mrs. Dolan was a bookkeeper for Risedorph Distributing in Kinderhook for 20 years and also at Barnwell Health Facilities for 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a former trustee for the Woodlawn Cemetery Association.

She is survived by: one son, Russell E. Dolan of Valatie; two grandchildren, Rustin E. and Rainy Lea Dolan; two nieces and one nephew. She was predeceased by her husband, Everett “Ebbie” Dolan and her brother, Edward Whiteman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 31, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, with the Reverend James Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Friday, January 30 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Woodlawn Cemetery Association, P.O. Box 124, Kinderhook 12106.

Rosemary A. Strang (1941 – 2015)

PHILMONT—Rosemary A. Strang, 73, passed away Thursday, January 22, 2015 at the Pine Haven Home.

She was born October 16, 1941 in Carmel, daughter of the late David and Katherine Strang.

A homemaker, she was a former longtime resident of Millerton.

Survivors include: her children, Tanya Wilbur of Copake Falls, Rhonda Miles of Hillsdale, Theodore Miles of Amenia, Anita (Penny) Spadacinni of Millerton, Rene Callahan of Hillsdale, George (Tony) Miles of Canaan, CT, and Raquel Werner of Copake Falls. She also leaves 29 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held at the convenience of her family.

William P. Bermel, Sr. (1937 – 2015)

LIVINGSTON—William Peter Bermel, Sr., 77, of Livingston, died Sunday, January 25, 2015 at his residence.

Born May 7, 1937 in Hudson, he is the son of the late Frank and Catherine (Simmons) Bermel.

He was predeceased by his wife, Brenda (Miller) Bermel.

Mr. Bermel served in the U.S. Air Force from 1954 to 1957. He was employed by the City of Hudson as a laborer in Cedar Park Cemetery.

He is survived by: three sons, William P. Bermel, Jr. (Tina) of North Carolina, Raymond Bermel of Hudson and John Bermel (Jackie) of Hudson; his daughter, Tina Bermel of Virginia; his sister, Eva Bermel of Livingston; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Thursday, January 29, 1 to 3 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Services will follow at 3 p.m. at the funeral home.

Marguerite Alonge Kane (1926 – 2015)

GHENT—Marguerite Alonge Kane, 88, of Hudson, passed away January 23, 2015 at Whittier.

She was born March 7, 1926 in Hudson to the late Gaetano Alonge and Catherine (Traficante) Alonge.

She was a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy.

Mrs. Kane was known for her quick wit, everlasting humor and love for all things family. Her upbeat outlook towards life made a lasting impression on those who knew and loved her. Her stubborn independence proved her strength and resilience and was evidence of her will to live. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be missed by all.

Mrs. Kane was the beloved wife of Cornelius H. Kane, deceased; devoted mother of Catherine Kane Whitbeck, deceased (Carl G. Whitbeck, Jr.), Cornelius H. Kane, Jr., (Ellen Mattie) of Hull, MA, George Kane (Laurie Clark) of Scituate, MA, and Guy L. Kane of Cohoes.

She was predeceased by her siblings, Charles Alonge, Vincent Alonge, Udienza Ciampa, Vincenza Apicella, Lillian Alonge, Anthony Alonge and Sarah Campagna.

Theresa Tanzillo of Tucson, AZ, Gaetano Alonge, Jr., of Troy and Francis Alonge of Greenport survive.

She is survived by nine grandchildren, Carl G. Whitbeck, III, Catlin H. Whitbeck, John V. Whitbeck, II, Charles L. Whitbeck, Molly Maloney Kane, George S. Kane, Maraigha L. Kane, Ryan C. Kane and Sean P. Kane. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours are Wednesday, January 28, 5 to 7 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Thursday, January 29, 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.
