Jeanne M. Peck (1923 – 2015)

CANAAN—Jeanne M. Peck died at her home in Canaan, Sunday, January 11, 2015. She was 91 years old.

She was born August 11, 1923 in Brooklyn to Clifford and Grace Beach and was married to Ronald Peck for 41 years until his death in 1986.

She is survived by: a brother, a daughter, a son, five grandchildren and a great-grandson.

A memorial service was held at the Canaan Congregational Church, Thursday, January 15. All were welcome and a reception followed.

Arrangements were with the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.

Charles A. Smith (1946 – 2015)

STUYVESANT FALLS—Charles A. Smith, 68, of Stuyvesant Falls died January 13, 2015 at his home.

Born April 29, 1946 in Jersey City, NJ, he was the son of the late James and Marie (Keil) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a Vietnam War veteran in the U.S. Army and was employed by the New York State Department of Transportation in Albany. He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church, the Stuyvesant Falls VFW Post # 9593 and the Glencadia Rod & Gun Club. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

He is survived by: his wife, Sharon (Mink) Smith; two daughters, Cara Marie Ryan of Mechanicville and Alicia Smith of Bristol, RI.

He was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Coon and a brother, James Smith.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 20, 11 a.m. at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Stuyvesant Falls, with the Reverend James Slater officiating. Burial will follow in Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery.

Calling hours will be Monday, January 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church, Stuyvesant Falls or the Community Hospice of Columbia / Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.

Lois VanBuren (1941 – 2015)

PHILMONT—Lois M. VanBuren, 73, of Livingston passed away Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.

She was born in Kingston, September 6, 1941.

Mrs. VanBuren was a teller at the Bank of America in Hudson for more than 20 years. She loved to travel and take long drives with her husband, James. She was devoted to her family and loved spending time with them, especially her grandchildren. Mrs. VanBuren also enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles.

Surviving are: her husband, James VanBuren of Livingston; three children, James VanBuren of Oviedo, Florida, Pamela VanBuren of Rosendale and Edward VanBuren of Saugerties; four grandchildren, Michael VanBuren, Matthew VanBuren, Hannah VanBuren and Jacob VanBuren; two brothers, George Every and Donald Every; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Raymond Every.

Funeral services are private.

Rebecca D. Reiser (1961 – 2015)

WEST GHENT—Rebecca Dozier Reiser, 53, of West Ghent died January 13, 2015 at her home.

Born January 16, 1961 in Hartselle, AL, she was the daughter of the late George and Violet (Tehson) Blackley.

Mrs. Reiser received her associate’s degree from Faulkner State and was an EMT on an offshore oil rig in Texas. She worked in the transportation business and was a logistics specialist for General Electric in Schenectady.

She was the beloved wife of Roger Reiser and the sister of Sheri Frost (Tom) of North Carolina. She is also survived by her niece, Heather and nephew, Dale Patrick.

Calling hours will be held Sunday, January 18 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Interment will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Columbia/Greene Human Society, 111 Humane Society Road, Hudson 12534.
