Kinderhook, Philmont, Valatie hold elections

KINDERHOOK–The villages of Kinderhook, Valatie and Philmont are holding elections Wednesday, March 18.

In Kinderhook, Trustees Dale Leiser and Robert Puckett are running for reelection unopposed. Voting will take place in the Village Hall, 6 Chatham Street (state Route 9), from noon to 9 p.m.

In Philmont, Mayor Clarence “Skip” Speed and Trustees Douglas Cropper and Larry Ostrander are running for reelection. The polls are open noon to 9 p.m. at Village Hall, 124 Man Street. Village Hall behind the Village Office in the same building can be accessed by the ramp on the right side of the building or at the Fire Company entrance off of the Maple Avenue parking lot.

In Valatie, Diane Argyle is running for another term as mayor and Philip Bickerton and Frank Bevens are running unopposed for their trustee seats. Voting, on paper ballots, will take place in the Martin H. Glynn Municipal Building on Church Street from noon to 9 p.m.

Village elections were moved this year from Tuesday, March 17 to Wednesday, March 18 because, according to New York State Municipal Law villages may not hold elections on St. Patrick’s Day.
