Alfred P. Quaile

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Alfred P. Quaile, 82, passed peacefully Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at the Fairview Commons Nursing Home.

He is survived by: his high school sweetheart and wife of 62 years, Eve; his son, Philip and daughter-in-law Sandy; his daughter, Jeanne and son-in-law, Jeffrey; his son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Christine and his daughter, Joanne and son-in-law, Robert; his three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Born and raised in Floral Park, Mr. Quaile attended Sewanhaka High School, where he met Eve. After graduating, he served our country as a sergeant in the Army in Korea. After serving, he returned to Queens, where he and his wife started their family.

Mr. Quaile began his long career in the auto body repair business after returning from Korea, and worked in Flushing with his sons. In 1990 he and Eve moved to Copake Falls with his son, Scott and daughter-in-law, Christine, where they opened Davis Auto Body. Mr. Quaile always took great pride in his work and enjoyed knowing his customers.

As a young father, Mr. Quaile was an active member of the Christ Evangelical Church of Floral Park, a leader of the church’s young Luther League and was involved with the Boy Scouts for 50 years.

He and his wife were passionate about horses and were owners of riding horses and rode on Long Island up until their move to Copake Falls, where they continued to ride and enjoy many local trails.

Always, Mr. Quaile was involved in the auto racing circuit and for the past 35 years was always at his son Scott’s side at the track.

In their most recent years together, Mr. and Mrs. Quaile were seen at local ballroom events, dancing and making new friends. Together in their retired years they enjoyed railroading to various U.S.A. destinations and taking cruises.

He was always surrounded by his family and friends and will be missed and dearly remembered by all who knew him.

Ruth S. Pilch

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL—Ruth S. Pilch, 87, a 45-year resident of Fort Lauderdale, FL, formerly of Pine Plains, passed into heaven Wednesday, March 4, 2015.

She is survived by: her four children, Edwin S. (Cindy) Pilch, Jr. of Copake, Nancy (Peter) Jankovitz of Poughkeepsie, Sheree Pilch of Pompano Beach, FL, and John (Julie) Pilch of Pompano Beach, FL; 10 grandchildren, Dawn, Richard, Eric, Jennifer, Charles, Barbara, Larissa, Tara, Madeline and Michael; 13 great-grandchildren, Keith, Heather, Tyler, Dominic, Kyra, Camren, Justin, Joseph, Jacob, Jeremy, Joshua, Jillian and Braden; two sisters, Eleanor (Clifford) Goldsmith and Mary (Robert) Webster; and a sister-in-law, Ada Stehr.

She was predeceased by her parents, Michael and Irene Webb Stehr and two brothers, Robert and Edward Stehr.

There are no calling hours.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, March 28, 2015, 11 a.m. at the Peck & Peck Funeral Home, 7749 South Main Street, Pine Plains, with the Reverend Carol Miller officiating.

Interment will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains and she will be buried alongside her husband of 57 years, Edwin S. Pilch.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2 Jefferson Plaza, Suite 103, Poughkeepsie 12601.
