L. Gordon Delp (1920 – 2015)
ALBANY—L. Gordon Delp, 94, of Greenport passed away Thursday, April 9, 2015 at Albany Medical Center.
Born May 14, 1920 in Ojibwa, Wisconsin, he was the son of the late Samuel William Delp and Virgie (Moore) Delp.
His family moved to a farm in Coxsackie in 1921. He graduated from Coxsackie High School in 1937.
Mr. Delp served in the Army Air Corps as a airplane and engine mechanic from December 20, 1940 until July 18, 1945 with service in North Africa, Island of Pantelleria, Sicily, Italy, India and China. He was crew chief on single and twin engine aircraft. He was awarded the American Defense Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Ribbons with four battle stars and the Good Conduct Medal.
He worked many years, both before and after his military service, at Knaust Brothers Mushroom Cannery in Hudson, as a mechanic, welder, machinist and foreman. He retired from Ravena Welding, Inc., in Ravena, as design draftsman and field representative in 1985 after 18 years of service. Mr. Delp was a member of the Methodist Church, a charter member of Dusty Travelers Travel and Camping Club (NCHA), and a member of the VFW Post 7955 in Copake.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Margaret (Rubow) Delp, whom he married July 28, 1942. They were married for almost 62 years before her passing. He was also predeceased by three brothers, Fred Delp, Wayne M. Delp and S. Deane Delp, and a grandson, Roger Coe.
Mr. Delp is survived by: his daughter, Judith M. Delp, his son and daughter-in-law, Bradford G. and Donna Delp; two granddaughters, Wendy Delp Meyers and her husband Jody, and Michelle Coe Dunham; three great-grandchildren, Aaron G. Dunham, Payton Dunham and Abby Meyers; a great-great-grandson, Cody Dunham; many nieces and nephews.
A calling hour will begin at 10 a.m. Monday, April 13 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Services will follow at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in Coxsackie.

George Borromeo (1932 – 2015)
RED HOOK—It is with a deep and heavy sadness, that his family announces the passing of longtime Red Hook resident, George A. Borromeo, 82. He passed away Wednesday, April 8, 2015 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.
Born July 13, 1932, in New York City, he was the son of the late Frank and Lena (Neste) Borromeo.
In 1951 and during the Korean War, Mr. Borromeo volunteered and proudly served in the United States Navy. He reported on the re-commissioned LST 503 as a crew member in the deck department, participating in Operation “Blue Jay” and “SUNAC” north of the Arctic Circle. He then reported on the USS Maury (AGS 16), serving as the leading seaman of the deck department during oceanographic survey, advancing to boatswain mate third class qualifying as coxswain for all of the ship’s boats, as well as operator for the deck equipment and cargo. Mr. Borromeo was honorably discharged in 1955 and returned home to the Bronx. He was a member of the Jennings–Willets American Legion Post #346 and the Germantown VFW Post #6398.
On November 10, 1956, he married Judith Martinez in New York City and in 1960, moved from the Bronx to upstate New York, to raise their family. Mrs. Borromeo survives at home in Red Hook.
For nearly 35 years, and as a member of the Teamsters Local #445 based in Montgomery, Mr. Borromeo worked as a truck driver for various firms. He retired from the trucking industry in 1988, to quickly re-enter the workforce for the Office of the President at Bard College until 1993.
He held a true appreciation for and was legendary in his admiration and knowledge of collectible items such as antiques, trains, guns, glassware, tools, engines and clocks. He loved to learn and teach others about antiques at yard sales, flea markets, swap meets and in a variety of small shops he owned throughout his life. He enjoyed hunting and had a great respect for nature and a love of animals. Above all, he adored his family, and always maintained an unyielding commitment to their success and well- being.
In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by: his children, George Joseph Borromeo (Wan), Northern Mariana Islands, Tracey L. Borromeo (Lynn) West Coxsackie and Jeanne Borromeo- Otty (Tim) of Germantown; his cherished grandchildren, Sasha (Destin) and Daniel; along with his sister-in-law, Jean Berdnik; Angela Cavanna, who he fondly referred to as “my other daughter;” his loyal and devoted nephew, Frank Borromeo; countless long-time valued friends and other family members with whom he shared so many memories during his lifetime.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings; Joseph “John” Borromeo, Elaine Benvenuto and Anthony V. Borromeo.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook, Friday, April 24, 2015 from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church, Red Hook, Saturday, April 25, 2015 at 10 a.m. Burial, with full military honors, will be at St. Sylvia’s Cemetery, Tivoli.

Barbara A. Moore (1931 – 2015)
WILLOWBROOK, IL—Barbara A. Moore, formerly of Clermont, passed away peacefully April 6, in Willowbrook, IL, with family members by her side.
She was born July 9, 1931 in the Bronx to the late William and Leone (Padgett) Kahle.
Beloved wife of the late Floyd J. Moore, II, Mrs. Moore is survived by her son, Eric (Susan) Helsley of Hinsdale, IL, and daughter, Melinda Barbanti (Ronald) Caplan of Hudson.
She was the cherished grandmother of Anna, Matthew and Caroline Helsley of Hinsdale, IL, Allison Barbanti and her fiancé Jay Doan of Clermont and Derek (Kristen) Barbanti of New York City. She is also survived by her brother, William (Barbara) Kahle of Clermont; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Calling hours will be held Friday, April 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 18, 11 a.m. at Viewmont Christ Lutheran Church in Clermont, with interment to follow at Viewmont Cemetery.

William H. Murphy, II
TROY—William H. Murphy, II, 83, of Niverville passed away Thursday, April 9 at the Van Rensselaer Manor.
He was the son of the late William H. and Anna Margaret Gazaw Murphy.
Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his loving wife, Marlene Ann Murphy.
He resided in Port Henry for 18 years and in Nassau for 19 years before moving to Niverville. Mr. Murphy was a lifelong truck driver and most recently drove for Dorn’s Transportation in Albany prior to retiring.
Mr. Murphy was a dedicated father, an avid fisherman and a Korean War veteran serving in the United States Marines. He also enjoyed puzzling and collecting coins.
Mr. Murphy is survived by: two sons, William J. Murphy of Dublin, Ireland, and Thomas E. Murphy of Averill Park; four daughters, Mary Anne Dyer of Warrenton, VA, Irene Kallner of Glenmont, Gloria Hilton of Delmar and Patricia Murphy of Nassau; a sister, Jean DeLorenzo of Augusta, GA; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Mr. Murphy was predeceased by his daughter, Cynthia Proctor of Ocala, FL, and his sister, Mary VanWormer of Castleton.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street, Nassau, Tuesday, April 14, 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m.
