Calvin B. Alexander (1961 – 2015)

HUDSON—Calvin B. Alexander, 54, of Hudson, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Auburndale, Florida, February 17, 1961, he was the son of the late S.J. and Minnie (Cobbett) Alexander.   He worked in the construction business.

Surviving are: his wife, Suzanne (Carson) Alexander; four children, Calvin, Jr., Olivia, Martika and Manazhia; four brothers, James Roy Wiggins, Joseph Alexander, James C. Alexander and Jimmy Alexander; five sisters, Evonne Cobbett Williams, Lyndia Cobbett, Deloris Sheffield, Sharon Sheffield and Helen Alexander; his father-in-law, Richard Carson; his grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Wallace Cobbett.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24, 11 a.m. at Rock Solid Church, 334 Union Street, Hudson. Visiting time is 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery in Hudson.

Robert H. Kuck, Sr.

GERMANTOWN—Robert “Bob” H. Kuck, Sr., 83, a retired FDNY firefighter, died peacefully Tuesday, August 18, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his son, Robert H. Kuck, Jr., and is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Mary (Tremble) Kuck of Southbury, CT; his sons, Kevin Kuck, of Elizaville; William Kuck and his wife Mariana of Southbury, CT; and Eric Kuck and his wife Laura of New Fairfield, CT; two grandchildren, Liam Kuck and Maggie Kuck; numerous nieces and nephews and many close friends.

Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Kuck was a resident of both Flushing and Elizaville and more recently of Southbury, CT.

He served in the U.S. Army assigned to a M.A.S.H. Unit where he attained the rank of corporal. After his military service, Mr. Kuck worked as a mechanic for Chevrolet before entering the plumbing trade in 1955 in Flushing. He continued in that trade for the next 40 years.

His career with the FDNY spanned more than 34 years, and he retired from Ladder Company 129 in Flushing in 1994.

Despite all of his hours and hard work as both a plumber and NYC firefighter, he always had time to be a great role model for his children. He was a loving husband, devout Catholic, a good friend, and the best father his children could ever ask for. His family thanks him for all he did, gave and taught to them.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, August 23 at Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown. Church services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, August 24 at the Church of the Resurrection, 11 Church Avenue, Germantown.

In lieu of flowers, Mr. Kuck “would request that you just save your money instead” or make a donation to the Juvenile Diabetic Research Foundation 5 Greenwood Dr. #1 East Greenbush 12061.

James E. Smith (1943 – 2015)

HUDSON—James E. Smith, 71, of Greenport passed away Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Visiting time will be noon to 2 p.m., Sunday, August 30, 2015 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
