Emery Kimball (1924 – 2015)

CATSKILL—Emery P. Thomas Kimball, 91, of Claverack died Sunday, September 13, 2015 at The Pines in Catskill.

He was a former resident of Westchester County and retired in 1983 from the New York Telephone Company in Manhattan. Mr. Kimball was a veteran of World War II and served as an air crew member on a B24 Liberator Bomber in the Central and Western Pacific areas. He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and a member of the Hudson Widow Son’s Lodge #7 F & AM.

He is survived by: his wife, Elsie B. Kimball and two sons, David E. of Manorton and Robert T. of Claverack.

Services are private and at the convenience of the family.

Harriet E. Simpkins (1930 – 2015)

HUDSON—Harriet Elizabeth Miller Simpkins, age 85, died September 13, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a car accident in Stuyvesant

Born January 2, 1930 in New York City, she was the daughter of the late William J. Miller and Dorothy Heald Miller Atkins.

She was a graduate of Berne Knox Westerlo High School and attended State Teachers College at Albany.

She owned HMS Real Estate in Chatham for many years and later was a part-time library aide at the Chatham Central School Library.

She enjoyed music, reading, knitting and volunteering at the Ghent Pantry. She was the first woman member of the Northern Columbia County Rotary Club and also its first woman president. She was a 50-plus-year member of the Chatham Reformed Church and later was a member of the Kinderhook Reformed Church.

She is survived by: four children, Gary (Bonnie) Simpkins of Kinderhook, Deborah (Michael) Spaulding of Stuyvesant, Scott Simpkins of Kinderhook and Terry Simpkins of Middlebury, Vermont; four grandchildren, Krystal Manuel of Massachusetts, Audrey Simpkins of Philadelphia, Adam Spaulding of North Reading, MA, and Aaron Simpkins of Buffalo and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of nearly 40 years, Alvah Willis Simpkins.

There will be no calling hours, a memorial service will be held Friday, September 25, 2015 at 1 p.m. at the Wenk Funeral Home, 21 Payn Avenue, Chatham. A reception at the Kinderhook Reformed Church will follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions made be made to the Kinderhook Reformed Church, Church Improvement Fund, 21 Broad Street, Kinderhook 12016 or the Ghent Food Pantry c/o Ghent Town Hall, 2306 Route 66, Ghent 12075.
