Zoe Ann Covey (1955 – 2015)

KINDERHOOK—Zoe Ann (Gay) Covey passed away peacefully October 2, 2015 at the age of 60.

She is survived by her loving family: husband, Mark Covey; son, Daniel Covey; daughter and son-in-law, Lori (Covey) and Jonathan McKechnie; sister and brother-in-law, Debbie (Gay) and Michael Cazzato; brother and sister-in-law, Brian and Sheila Gay (Martin); step-mother, Leslie Gay (Reynolds) and their families.

She was born February 4, 1955 in Natick, MA. She was predeceased by her parents, Edward Gay and Mary Gay (Garvey), as well as her brother, Edward “Teddy” Gay, Jr.

Mrs. Covey grew up in Kinderhook and graduated from Ichabod Crane High School in Valatie in 1973. She attended Bay Path Junior College in Longmeadow, MA, prior to starting her career in the healthcare industry. Mrs. Covey worked at New York State Farm Bureau, SSA, and Apollo Partners. Her passion for helping others was evident throughout her work, as well as in her personal life.

She was an active member of her community. She both volunteered and participated in community events and organizations, including the Girl Scouts of America, KinderCrafter Fair and the KBPA. Mrs. Covey was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, where she volunteered for many positions and events over the years.

She was a compassionate and caring person. Her gentle nature and selflessness were admired. She lived for quiet mornings on her porch, summers in Cape Cod and boating with family and friends. She will be remembered most for her love of Chardonnay, as well as her strength and courage throughout life’s many curveballs.

The family thanks all those who have supported them over the past year in Mrs. Covey’s battle with brain cancer.

Viewing hours will be held at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, Saturday, October 10 from 1 to 4:30 p.m. with a funeral service immediately following from 4:30 to 5 p.m. All are welcome to attend the celebration of Mrs. Covey’s life. Frank T. Sabo (1949 – 2015)

CLAVERACK—Frank T. Sabo, 66, of Claverack died at his home Friday, October 2, 2015 surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Hudson February 18, 1949, he was the son of the late Frank T. Sabo, Sr., and Edith Alessi of Livingston.

Mr. Sabo was a carpenter with Local # 279 in Hopewell Junction and was also a farmer. He was a member and past president of both ABATE of Columbia County and Rolling Thunder Chapter 5 motorcycle clubs. Mr. Sabo served honorably overseas in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He will be greatly missed by: his loving wife, Denise L. (Borghi) Sabo at home; sons, Scott Hults, Andrew (Ronda) Hults and Brian (Christine) Shetsky; daughters, Lorinda (Jay) Hamm, Sarah Sabo and Melissa (Roland) Anderson; brothers, Ronald Williams and Joseph Sabo; sister, Ellen Sage; grandchildren, Alyssa, Seana, Seth, Mark, Paul, Erica, Kyra, Harleigh, Isaac, Trent and Ava; great-grandsons, Julius and Isaiah.

Visiting hours will be held Thursday, October 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services are set for Friday, October 9, 10 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.

James Neal (1930 – 2015)

PHILMONT—James “Jim” Edward Neal, 85, of Ghent was called Home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.

Born in Taylorsville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late Raymond and Lois (Stevens) Neal.

Mr. Neal was an Angus farmer and a salesman for Pioneer Manufacturing Industrial Cleaning Supply until his retirement. He was a member and elder of the Martindale Community Gospel Church.
He will be greatly missed by: his wife of 64-years, Roberta L. (Partin) Neal at home; four daughters, Nancy (Ted) Preusser, Lois Ann (Eric) Janson, Amy Folmsbee, Sarah (Howard) Montague; one sister, Mary Lee Waterfill; nine grandchildren, Jessica, Daniel, Timothy and Philip Preusser, Melanie Eisele, Megan Wilcox, Rebekah Brown, Jeffrey and Emily Montague; and four great-grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by two sons Jeffrey and Daniel Neal; one daughter, Janet Profetto; one brother, C.H. Neal and two sisters, Peggy Smith and Ann Brown and one granddaughter, Laura Janson.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, October 9 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Memorial services are Saturday, October 10, noon at the Martindale Community Gospel Church, 1018 State Route 23, Craryville. Burial will follow at the Martindale Church Cemetery.
