Rose E. Klima (1928 – 2015)

HENDERSON, KY—Rose Klima, 87, of Henderson, Kentucky, formerly of Mellenville, died Thursday, December 17, 2015, at Redbanks Nursing Home.

She had worked at Lorbrook Corporation, a New York textile and automotive company, where she was a machine operator. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.

She was preceded in death March 18, 2007 by her husband of more than 60 years, Joseph E. Klima, Sr. and one grandson, Joseph Edward Klima, III.

Survivors include: one son, Joseph E. Klima, Jr., and his wife, Beverly of Henderson, Kentucky; one sister, Edna Dugan of Hudson; three granddaughters, Gennea Klima of Philmont, Mackinzie Klima McClure and her husband, Andy of Connelly Springs, North Carolina, and Emily Stalker and her husband, Josh of Hillsdale; one great-granddaughter, Deanna Klima of Boston, Massachusetts; and one great-grandson, Joshua Stalker of Hillsdale.

Visiting hours are Monday, December 28, 2015 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mellenville Union Cemetery, Mellenville.

Leon John Moody, II (1938 – 2015)

GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Leon John Moody, II, 77, of Craryville passed away Saturday December 19, 2015 at Fairview Hospital.

He was born April 3, 1938 in Lancaster, NH, son of the late Leon and Elizabeth (Spang) Moody.

Mr. Moody served with the United States Army from 1961 to 1963.

A lineman, he was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local #1249.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary in 2004.

Survivors include: his sons, Leon John Moody, III, (Tracy) of Churchtown and Andrew R. Slitzker (Lorrie) of Pittsfield, MA; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and a sister.

Private graveside services with military honors will be held on Wednesday, December 23 at St. Bridget’s Cemetery in Copake Falls with the Reverend George Brennan officiating.

Roy Pulver, Sr. (1924 – 2015)

EAST GREENBUSH—Roy Pulver, Sr., 91, of Craryville passed away Saturday, December 19, 2015 at Evergreen Commons.

Born January 31, 1924 in Taghkanic, he was the son of the late Roy and Bertha Pulver. He was a lifelong area resident. Mr. Pulver worked on the Waldorf Dairy Farm in East Taghkanic for 26 years and then worked at the Columbia County Highway Department, as shop foreman, for 29 years.

He is survived by: his beloved wife, Esther (Stalker) Pulver of Craryville; his devoted children, Cynthia Law of Coxsackie and Roy Pulver, Jr., of Claverack; his grandson, Joshua Law of Coxsackie; his granddaughter, Meghann Stanley of Quantico, Virginia; his great-granddaughter, Emma Stanley; his niece and nephew, Emily and Joseph Davis.

He was predeceased by two brothers, Joseph and John.

Graveside services were conducted at the West Taghkanic Cemetery with Pastor Jackie Jefferson officiating.

Valerie J. Schmeichel (1942 – 2015)

ALBANY—Valerie J. Schmeichel, 73, of Hillsdale passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Albany Medical Center.

She was born March 18, 1942 in Copake, the daughter of the late Kenneth J. and Almeda (Van Alphen) Hall.

A lifelong local resident, she was a graduate of Roeliff Jansen High School. Until her recent retirement she was employed in many capacities including office manager with East Mountain Medical in Great Barrington, MA, for more than 20 years.

Very involved in her community, Mrs. Schmeichel was a 56-year member and past president of the Hillsdale Fire Company Auxiliary, an active member of the Hillsdale United Methodist Church, a volunteer for the Roe Jan Food Pantry, Hillsdale Community Day and American Red Cross Blood Drives and a member of the Copake Republican Club.

On December 30, 1961 in Hillsdale she married Herbert R. Schmeichel. Sr., who predeceased her in 2014 along with a son, Herbert R. Schmeichel, Jr., in 1987.

Survivors include: her daughters, Linda Porreca (Allan) of Claverack and Karen Bishop of Hillsdale. She also leaves her grandchildren, Thomas and Caitlin Bishop and Alicia Porreca along with a brother, Norman Hall (Patty) of Hillsdale.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Interment will be in the North Hillsdale Cemetery.

Ella L. Feller (1934 – 2015)

HUDSON—Ella L. Feller, 81, of Livingston passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Valley Stream, Nassau County, June 20, 1934 to the late Frederick and Ella (Steinhoff) Krapf.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Delmar Feller and her siblings, Janet, Fred, George, Florence, Harriet, Jack and Donald.

Mrs. Feller was a homemaker and devoted to her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting. Mrs. Feller worked as a fruit packer on the Fix Bros. Farm.

She is survived by: her loving family, including her children, Henry Feller, Delmar Feller, Jr., and Patricia O’Connor; six grandchildren, Laurie, Tracy, Kelly, Heather, James and Christopher; five great-grandsons; three great-granddaughters; three sisters, Dorothy, Kathy and Lorraine; her brother, Charlie; several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, December 22, 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Services will be held at at the funeral home Wednesday, December 23, 1 p.m. Interment will be in Linlithgo Cemetery.

Jane C. Palleschi (1934 – 2015)

KINDERHOOK—Jane C. Palleschi of Kinderhook passed away Monday, December 21, 2015 at her home.

Born September 10, 1934 in Schenectady, she was the daughter of the late Agnes (Healy) and Alexander Cunningham

She was the wife of the late Mario J. Palleschi.

For many years, along with her husband and family, Mrs. Palleschi owned and operated Mario’s Home Center in Valatie.

She had many life passions. First and foremost was her family. She loved the gatherings that usually involved wonderful foods, poker games, laughter, family and friends.

Mrs. Palleschi also enjoyed traveling. Her adventures took her to Italy, Germany, Poland, Egypt and many tropical islands. She also cherished her time spent in the Adirondacks at her camp on Fern Lake .

Her family sends heartfelt thanks to Columbia Greene Community Hospice for the warm and compassionate care they gave her. “We also send our love and thanks to all those friends and family who have supported us and continue to remind us of the funloving and generous nature of our Mom.”

She is survived by: her three children, Paula Palleschi of Kinderhook, Elizabeth Novine (Timothy) of Kinderhook and Peter Palleschi (Danielle) of Chatham; one sister, Patricia Looman of Georgia; her sister-in-law, Rose (Salamone) Palleschi; 10 grandchildren, Erin Walsh, Keri Walsh McComb, Alexander Walsh, Anna Mary, Timothy and Nicholas Novine, Sarah, Aimee Katherine, Peter Warrick and Christopher Roman Palleschi; one great-grandchild, Hayden McComb; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 26, noon at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Valatie. Calling hours will be held prior to the service from 10 a.m. to noon.

Catherine M. Hurin (1958 – 2015)

HUDSON—Catherine Margaret Hurin of Claverack passed peacefully with her family by her side Monday, December 21, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born May 30, 1958 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Jean Keyser of Claverack and the late Raymond Keyser, Sr. She was the beloved wife of 35 years of Gene Hurin; devoted mother of Andrea Moschini and her husband, Steven and Christopher Hurin and his wife, Kayla, and loving grandmother of Emily Moschini and Peyton Hurin. Mrs. Hurin was the second of four children. Also surviving are her siblings, Raymond Keyser, Jr., Linda Fonda and Daniel Keyser.

Mrs. Hurin graduated from Hudson High School in 1976 where she met her husband. She graduated from Mohawk Valley Community College and went on to be a respiratory therapist at Albany Medical Center. After Albany Medical Center, she returned to Hudson to work at Columbia Memorial Hospital as a respiratory therapist and then became director of the Cardiopulmonary Department while raising her family. She was very involved with many committees and projects at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Above all else, she loved being together with her family as much as possible, traveling and gardening. Even when she was very ill, she continued to help and encourage her family with her strength and will.

Visiting hours are Tuesday, December 22, 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Services will be conducted Wednesday, December 23, 10 a.m at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Reformed Dutch Church Cemetery in Claverack.

Regina Kolodziej (1927 – 2015)

HUDSON—Regina Kolodziej, 88, of Hudson passed away Friday, December 18, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born July 2, 1927 in Bialystok, Poland, she was a Holocaust survivor in the Siberian Labor Camp from 1940 to 1942 where she and her entire family were deported from Eastern Poland. She was the daughter of the late Alexander and Josefa Leonczuk Borysiewicz.

She immigrated to the United States in 1947 and settled in Columbia County where she and her husband were fruit farmers for 42 years. In addition to working on the farm during the day she worked as a packer at night at the Universal Match Factory for 37 years. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and was passionate to all animals big and small.

Mrs. Kolodziej was a lifetime member of St. Mary’s Church in Hudson.

Surviving are: her daughter, Maria Kolodziej-Zincio; her grandchildren, Alicia Taranto-Rogers, Michelle Langella and great-granddaughter, Kayla Taranto.

She will be remembered by her warmth, compassion, generosity, kind spirit and her strength and endurance.

Prayers were from the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home Tuesday, December 22, 9:30 a.m. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Columbia-Greene Humane Society.

Josephine K. Craver (1941 – 2015)

HUDSON—Josephine K. Craver, 74, of Clermont died Monday December 21, 2015 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born in Yonkers, September 28, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Hobby) Russo. Mrs. Craver was a homemaker and worked for many years at the Hudson Knitting Mills in Philmont.

She will be greatly missed by her loving husband of 54 years, Harold B. Craver, Sr., at home; two sons, Harold B. Craver, Jr., and Zachary and (Jackie) Craver; daughters, Frances and (Paul) Koch, Josephine and (David) Zahn, Allene and (Ed) McGee; one brother, Mike Russo; two sisters, Dorothy Russo and Janet Winters; grandchildren, Jessica, Andrew, Timmy, Ashley and (Allan), Amanda and (Ed), Terri and (Terrence); and 11 great-grandchildren.

Tonia M. Gundrum (1977 – 2015)

NEW LEBANON—Tonia M. Gundrum, 38, of New Lebanon passed away December 18, 2015.

She was the daughter of Dennis Royce, Sr., and Mary Williams. She was a graduate of New Lebanon High School and had lived in East Nassau most of her life.

She is survived by: her son, Scott Gundrum; daughters, Isabella Gundrum and Paige Aldrich; brothers, Dennis, Jr., Russell Tibbits and Johnathan Royce; sisters, Jackie Brennan and April Fogt.

Relatives and friends are invited to call at the Thomas P. Mooney Funeral Home, 11 Elm Street, Nassau, Wednesday, December 23, 2015 from 5 to 8 p.m. Funeral services and interment will be private at the convenience of the family.
