Barbara B. Hart (1933 – 2016)

LIVINGSTON—Barbara B. Hart, 82, of Greenport passed away Saturday, March 12, 2016 at Livingston Hills Nursing Home.

Born June 27, 1933 in Ghent, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Mabel (Schermerhorn) Berninger.

Mrs. Hart was a registered nurse at Eden Park Nursing Home in Hudson for more than 25 years. She graduated from Columbia Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1953.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Andrew J. Hart; her sister, Edna; and four brothers, William, Harold, John and Allen.

Mrs. Hart loved her family and spending time with them was a priority.

Surviving are: her devoted children, Steven Hart and his wife Brenda of Greenport and Carol Hart Wilson and her husband Robert of Florida, and her loving granddaughter, Hannah Hart.

Calling hours are noon to 2 p.m. Thursday, March 17 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Funeral services follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cedar Park Cemetery.

Robert F. Friedman (1943 – 2016)

GHENT—“It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our beloved husband, brother, father, grandfather and uncle.” Robert F. Friedman passed away peacefully at his home, March 14, 2016.

He was born February 10, 1943 to Bernard and Lillian Friedman in Brooklyn.

Mr. Friedman attended and graduated from Brooklyn Tech and Cortland State. He taught mainly at the Berkshire Farm and Mount Vernon school districts. He retired after more than 25 years of service. Mr. Friedman enjoyed his family and beloved grandchildren.

He is survived by: his wife, Sallie, of 50 years; his three sons, Scott (Michele), Jonathan (Dawn) and Todd (Sarah); his seven loving grandchildren and seven nieces and nephews; his sister, Shirley; brothers-in-law, Robert Barton and George Snyder. He was predeceased by his loving sister-in-law, Carole Snyder.

A memorial service will be held at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, 10 a.m. Saturday, March 19, 2016. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ghent Food Pantry and Our Community Cares. Condolences may be conveyed at frenchblasl.com

Reymundo Luna Martinez

CLAVERACK—Reymundo Luna Martinez, 25, of Craryville died as a result of an a motor vehicle accident on State Route 23, March 4.

The entire Copake Country Club family is deeply saddened by the passing of Mr. Martinez, a valued employee, but even more, a great friend.

Mr. Martinez had a memorable infectious smile, which he was never without, and his unyielding energy. Always eager to help, he felt responsible to make certain that everything was as close to perfect as possible and never minded going that extra distance for the benefit of all.

Mr. Martinez became an avid golfer after moving to the club. He enjoyed soccer, farming and animals.

He is survived by: brothers, Lorenzo and Santiago; sister-in-law, Sandra; his niece, Perla and nephew, Enrique both of whom he adored and spent plenty of time with playing outdoors in Mexico. He is also survived by his mother, seven additional brothers and three sisters.

A gathering was held March 12 at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake. A reception at The Greens followed. He will be buried in Mexico. In lieu of flowers, a fund to help defer funeral expenses has been established. “We are heartbroken to say goodbye to our loving friend Reymundo. We will miss you.”

Gloria Mae Moore (1926 – 2016)

HUDSON—Gloria Mae Moore died March 8, 2016 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

Born October 26, 1926 in Germantown, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Laura (Ogden) Moore.

She graduated from Hudson High School in 1944. She married William D. Coons in 1947 in Hudson, he predeceased her.

Surviving are: two sons, Bruce Coons of Copperas Cove, TX and Roger Coons of Wheaton, IL; several nieces and nephews.

Services are private and at the convenience to the family. Burial will be in the West Taghkanic Cemetery.

Arrangements were with the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown.

Arlene M. Ely (1933 – 2016)

GHENT—Arlene M. Ely, 82, of Ghent died peacefully at home Tuesday, March 8, 2016 after a brief and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Born in Brooklyn, September 4, 1933, she was the daughter of the late William and Irene (McGowan) Shaw.

She married the late Joseph John Ely April 24, 1954. She was a nurse’s aide with Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson for nearly 20 years.

Mrs. Ely will be greatly missed by her loving family including: her daughters, Kathy (Matt) Griffin of Claverack, Pamela Ely of Hudson, Susan (George) Oram of Ghent, with whom she lived with for 26 years; a brother, John (Linda) Shaw of FL; her sister, Janet Sheehan of NJ; her daughter-in-law, Donna Ely of Hudson; eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Joseph, she was predeceased by sons, Kevin and Brian Ely; brothers, William and Donald Shaw and sister, Marilyn Frank.

Memorial services will be held Friday, March 18 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Prayer services will be at 5 p.m. with Pastor Stan Webster officiating. Her ashes will be interred in St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook, Saturday, March 19 at 11 a.m.
