Elizabeth A. Bell (1924 – 2016)

GHENT—Elizabeth A. Bell, a 60+ year resident of the Hudson, area, died February 27, 2016 at the age of 91 in Ghent.

A celebration of her life followed by a reception will take place at Christ Church Episcopal, 431 Union Street, Hudson, April 16 at 1 p.m.

Effie Braunfels (1925 – 2016)

PHILMONT—Effie Mae Braunfels, 90, of Philmont passed away at her residence Wednesday, April 6, 2016.

She was born in Philmont August 1, 1925 to the late Wilmer and Edna (Coons) Card.

She lived her whole life in Philmont.

Mrs. Braunfels was a member of Sacred Heart Church, the Altar Rosary Society and sang in the choir. She worked for the Town of Claverack as a deputy town clerk for several years. She was devoted to her family and was a great caregiver.

She married Frederick Braunfels December 26, 1943 and together they raised their children, Richard and Patricia, in Philmont. Their home was always open for the neighborhood kids and friends. They were married for 62 years before Mr. Braunfels passed away in 2005.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four brothers, Charles, Edward, Wilmer and Stanford Card, and one sister, Elizabeth Galipeau.

Surviving are: her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Elaine Braunfels of Litchfield, ME; her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia Braunfels and Steven Wildermuth of Ghent; her brother, Robert Card of Philmont; her sister, Kathleen Gent of Kinderhook; three grandchildren, Kate Reagan of Lewiston, ME, Jennifer Braunfels of Litchfield, ME, and Krista Grandinetti of Claverack; three great-grandchildren, Cora Braunfels, James Reagan and Maxim Lamontagne; several nieces and nephews.

The family thanks Alicia Hoffman for the loving care she provided during the last year of Mrs. Braunfel’s life.

Visiting hours are 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, April 10 at the Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.

Services will be conducted Monday, April 11, 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Mellenville Union Cemetery.
