Mary A. Neary

HUDSON—Mary A. Neary, 87, of Kinderhook died Monday, August 1, 2016 at Columbia Memorial Hospital of complications caused by Alzheimer’s disease.

For 58 years, she was the devoted wife of John H. Neary and loving mother of Joseph E. Neary (Terri) of New Orleans, LA, Brian P. Neary (Patricia) of Ellicott City, MD, and Kevin M. Neary (Bette Jean) of Glenmont.

She is also survived by: five grandsons; three granddaughters; one great-granddaughter; along with three great-grandsons, four sisters and five brothers in Canada. She was predeceased by one brother.

She was born in Carbonear, Newfoundland, Canada. For many years, Mrs. Neary worked at Hudson River Bank. She retired as a loan officer in 1994.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m, Friday, August 5, 2016 at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Burial will take place after Mass at Saratoga National Cemetery, Schuylerville.

Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, Kinderhook Street, Valatie.

Thomas I. Halpin (1930 – 2016)

ALBANY—Thomas I. Halpin of Ghent passed away August 2 at the Daughters of Sarah Nursing Home in Albany, with his family at his side.

He was born February 1, 1930, in Brooklyn, the son of the late Mary and John Halpin.

For 62 years he was the loving husband of Ann Marie Halpin; the beloved father of Ellen Guarino, William Halpin (Brenda), Susan Giallorenzo (Peter), Gregory Halpin (Nicole) and Mark Halpin (Linda). He was predeceased by his daughter, Laura Kerzic, and is survived by his son-in-law, Gary Kerzic.

Mr. Halpin was the cherished grandfather of Douglas Guarino, Marilyn Guarino, Lisa Halpin, Kimberly Halpin Belval (Luke), Justin Giallorenzo, Lyndsay Halpin, Anthony Halpin, Benjamin Halpin and Ethan Halpin. He also leaves his sisters, Alice Mulderrig and Patricia Scally and his brother, William Halpin. Mr. Halpin was a chemical engineer and enjoyed a long career in this field in addition to many successful years in the business he founded with his business partner, Arthur Hube. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Reverend Gary Gelfenbien, Friday, August 5, 11:15 a.m. at St. James R.C. Church, Hudson Ave., Chatham.

Arrangements are with the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.

Darryl R. Shadic (1963 – 2016)

ALBANY—Darryl R. Shadic, 53, of Hillsdale passed away Thursday, August 4, 2016 at the Albany Medical Center.

He was born April 28, 1963 in Hudson, a son of Ardith L. (Durkee) Shadic of Copake and the late Everett “Sonny” Shadic, Jr.

He was a graduate of Taconic Hills Central School and was employed by Williams Lumber in Hudson.

He was an exceptional bowler, having may 300 games to his credit and was an avid fan of the New York Yankees.

Surviving besides his mother is: a son, Matthew Shaw of Massachusetts; a sister, Whitney Wallace of Ballston Spa and two brothers, Dane Shadic of Copake and Lance Shadic of Sheffield, MA.

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 8, 2016, 11 a.m. from the Peck and Peck Funeral, 8063 State Route 22 in Copake.

There are no calling hours.

Interment will follow in the Copake Cemetery.
