Evelyn K. Puckett (1926 – 2016)

HUDSON—Evelyn Kirschman Puckett, 90, of Cairo passed away August 22, surrounded by her loving family.

Mrs. Puckett was a registered nurse for almost 40 years at Columbia Memorial Hospital. She received her diploma from the Hudson City Hospital School of Nursing.

She had a passion for knitting and crocheting adorning many beds with comforters and children with their baptismal outfits. She will be well remembered for her wonderful sense of humor often poking fun at herself and the first to provide humor to cheer up others.

She was a devoted animal lover with a dog always by her side. But it was her children and grandchildren to whom she dedicated her life. She attended every basketball and little league game along with every dance recital and took pleasure in caring for her grandchildren.

Mrs. Puckett was predeceased by her husband, George and her granddaughters, Rhoda and Shannon.

She is survived by: her nine children, Michael (Joanne) Hanover NH, Bruce of Mexia, TX, Jon of Leeds, Russell (Susan) of North Claverack, Stephen, James Scott and Anne Camadine of Cairo, Mary Rain of Ogdensburg, Elizabeth of Hudson; 11 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral services were conducted Friday, August 26 at the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Interment followed at Cedar Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, which Mrs. Puckett “thought should have been provided to her while she lived,” she asked that all donations go to one’s local humane society.

Arrangements are under the direction of the M. Grimaldi Funeral Home.

Rebecca A. Arcuri (1964 – 2016)

ALBANY—Rebecca A. Arcuri, 52, of Selkirk passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 unexpectedly due to an illness at Albany Medical Center.

She was born June 27, 1964 in Hudson.

She is survived by: her parents, Viola and Harold Krambeck of Hudson; a daughter, Cassandra and a son, Preston of Niverville; sisters and brothers, Sharon and Al Scofield of CT, Cynthia Alger of Niverville, Michael and Sharon Alger of Hudson, Dennis and Mary Alger of Livingston, David Alger of OK; several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father, Gerald Alger, Sr., and her brother, Gerald Alger, Jr.

Calling hours will be held Monday, August 29 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

Priscilla Ann Murphy (1962 – 2016)

LIVINGSTON—Priscilla Ann Murphy, 54, of Old Route 82 in Livingston passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at her residence.

She was born January 6, 1962 in Sharon, CT, a daughter of the late Ralph and Hilda (Hoysradt) Sherman.

Mrs. Murphy was employed as a certified nursing assistant at the Great Barrington Health and Rehabilitation Center, Great Barrington, MA.

She enjoyed tending to her flower gardens, crocheting, watching her children compete at Lebanon Valley Speedway and most of all spending time with her grandchildren.

On October 20, 1979 in Pine Plains, she married Thomas H. Murphy Sr. who survives her at home.

Surviving besides her husband are: her children, Jeanie Murphy of Copake Falls, Thomas H. Murphy, Jr., of Hudson, Jesse Murphy of Elizaville and Christopher Murphy of Ancramdale; her grandchildren, Oliver McCann and Juliet Murphy; her siblings, Barbara Kelly of Copake, Raymond Sherman of Dover Plains, Steven Sherman of Gallatin, Kathy Sherman of Elizaville and Michael Sherman of Craryville; several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, she was predeceased by a son, Henry Murphy and a brother, John Sherman.

Memorial visitation will be held Saturday, September 3, 2016 from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake.

Gloria Jornov (1931 – 2016)

POUGHKEEPSIE—Gloria Jornov, 84, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2016 at the Lutheran Care Center.

Born November 11, 1931 in Hudson, she was the daughter of the late George and Elsie (Burch) Sitzer.

She married Franklin Jornov, Sr., October 22, 1950 in Stockport. He predeceased her June 15, 1994.

For many years, Mrs. Jornov worked as a nurse’s aide with Anytime Nursing Service based in Rhinebeck and also at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck.

She was a member of Christ Church in Red Hook and also the Red Hook Post #7765 VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Among the many things Mrs. Jornov enjoyed most were her crafts and baking.

She is survived by her loving family, including: her daughters, Lisa S. Smith, Barbara J. Jornov; her son, Franklin Jornov; a her sister, Loretta; grandchildren, Brittany Smith, Cierra Smith, Foster Dunn, Kevin Dunn, Heather Dunn, Staci Jornov, Tasha Jornov, Kellie Jornov and several great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Keith Allen Jornov; and a sister, Laura Wolferstieg.

Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Home, 7461 South Broadway, Red Hook, Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Graveside services will be held at Saint Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook, Wednesday, August 31 at 11 a.m. The Reverend Fred C. Cartier will officiate. Burial will follow.
