GERMANTOWN—The Planning Board will hold a workshop meeting Tuesday, September 20 at 6 p.m. in Town Hall. The board will not meet on its usual last Thursday (September 29 this month).
Planning Board consultant J. Theodore Fink, of Greenplan, Inc., has been reviewing the Draft Scoping Document (DSD) for the Dollar General retail store proposed for Route 9G just north of County Route 8/Main Street. Planning Board chairman Stephen Reynolds said Tuesday that he expected Mr. Fink to finish his review mid-week and return the DSD to the planners.
At the workshop, planners will review the document together and confirm that it is complete, said Mr. Reynolds. That designation means that the document includes all the information offered by residents at the public scoping session held July 28.
While the workshop is a public meeting, Mr. Reynolds said it is not a forum for public comment.
Once the DSD is declared complete, Primax Properties, which has site plan and subdivision applications before the Planning Board for the Dollar General store, will use the DSD to develop the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). The DEIS is the next step in the process and the next opportunity for public comment.
Primax would own the property and lease it to Dollar General.
“It is complicated,” Mr. Reynolds said about the process. “No sooner do you feel you have clarity than another question comes up.”
