Ann Morris Pearce (1935 – 2016)
CANAAN—Ann Morris Pearce died peacefully at her home in Canaan, November 25, 2016. She was diagnosed as having a non-small cell carcinoma of the lung in January 2016. Her husband, David, who provided care for her was at her side. They were able to spend the month of August in Aix-en-Provence, France.
She was born in Alliance, Ohio, October 29, 1935, to Helen and Evan Morris. She attended Mount Union College in Alliance and graduated from George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
She married David Pearce February 2, 1957, and they moved to London where she taught English history in a secondary modern school in Surrey. After returning to New York, they raised three children in Manhattan.
Mrs. Pearce served as the assistant to the head of the Lower School at The Brearley School from 1977 to 1985 and did volunteer work for the Parents’ League of New York.
In 1987 Mr. and Mrs. Pearce moved to Columbia County, where they purchased the Berkshire Liquor Store in East Chatham.
Mrs. Pearce was elected Tax Collector for the Town of Canaan; she also served on the Canaan Zoning Board from 1988 to 2012 and as Town Historian. She was active at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church in Spencertown as well as the Columbia County Historical Society, the Canaan Historical Society, Shaker Museum and Library and The Society of New Concord.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Pearce is survived by: her three daughters, Caroline Bauerschmidt (John), Helen Bequette (Todd) and Elizabeth Augustin (Thomas); her grandchildren, William, Henry and Caroline Bauerschmidt, Jake, Ben, Sam and Tom Bequette and Emily Ann Augustin. She also is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Sarah Brown, Jane Udovic, Evan Morris and John Morris.
There will be a funeral service at St. Peter’s Presbyterian Church in Spencertown, January 6, 2017 at 2 p.m. There will be an opportunity to meet members of the Pearce family at 1 p.m. at the church before the funeral service. The Deacons of St Peter’s Church will provide tea and other refreshments immediately after the funeral service.

Peggy Ann Langhirt (1955 – 2016)
NEW YORK CITY—Peggy Ann Florence Langhirt, 61, of New York City passed away December 1, 2016 at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Born November 12, 1955 in Middletown, Ohio, she was predeceased by her mother, Janet Williams and is survived by her father, Jim Williams; her sisters, Florence Turek, Donna Nicklaw; a brother, Tom Williams; a daughter, Cheyenne Cody Lebre; a son, John Lettieri; three granddaughters and her long-time companion, Brad Franklin.
She loved her animals and they will surely miss her too. “We love her very much and she will greatly be missed.”
Calling hours will be held Friday, December 9, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown.
Services will be Saturday, December 10, 11 a.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will follow in the Livingston Rural Cemetery.
