OBITUARIES: Overbaugh, Powell, Anderson

Elizabeth Overbaugh (1920 -2017)

PHILMONT—Elizabeth Overbaugh, “Aunt Betty,” of Pine Haven Nursing Home died peacefully February 28, 2017. She was 97-years-old.

She was born January 2, 1920 in Catskill but lived most of her adult life in Hudson. She was the daughter of Roy Eugene and Martha Ina Myers Overbaugh.

Upon graduation from Catskill High School, she was first employed as a veterinary assistant for Dr. DuBois Jenkins at Academy Street, Catskill. She also worked at Kadin Bros. Pocketbook Factory (Athens/Hudson) and retired from Charter Supply in Philmont.

An avid lifetime animal lover, she was the proud owner of a horse, many birds, and many more dogs (her favorite breed was the Chihuahua). When she could no longer own a “real” pet, her “stuffed” ones replaced them at the nursing home.

For the last six years, Miss Overbaugh amused and entertained the staff at Pine Haven. Her family thanks the Pine Haven staff for providing her with excellent care and love.

“When I graduate I want to join the circus and train horses,” says a quote from her high school yearbook.

“You are free to do that now, Aunt Betty.”

She is survived by: nieces, Nancy (Overbaugh) Rogers (David), Linda (Overbaugh) Van Schaack (Donald), Caryl (Overbaugh) Stimson (Chris), Karen (Overbaugh) Day; nephew, Bob Overbaugh; nieces-in-law, Joyce Overbaugh and Eileen Overbaugh; and nephew-in-law, Dan Toth. Also Kerice’s nephew, Frank Martin and his family; along with several great-nieces and great-nephews.
