The Reverend David Vogel (1925 – 2017)
DELMAR—The Reverend David L. Vogel, 91, after an extended illness, passed away peacefully at the Good Samaritan Home, March 25, 2017.
He was born November 10, 1925 in New Britain, CT, to Emil and Grace Vogel. His parents gave him the middle name Luther as it also was Martin Luther’s Birthday.
He graduated from New Britain High School in 1943 and served his country during World War II in the Army from January 1944 to May 1946. His time in the Army was spent in the medical corps in England and Fort Lewis in Washington.
In June 1951 he received his BA degree in social studies from Wagner College. There he met the love of his life Margaret Rauffer of Bridgeport, CT. They married in June 1954 and enjoyed 62½ years together. That year he also received his Bachelor of Divinity from Mount Airy Theological Seminary at Philadelphia, PA, and was ordained by the United Lutheran Synod of New York and New England in Johnson City, New York.
For 7½ years he served St. Paul’s L.C., Redwood; Evangelical L.C. at Four Corners; and Christ L.C. at Black Lake. For 38 years he served churches in Columbia County: St. John’s Ancram and East Taghkanic, Emanuel Hudson and Emanuel Harlemville.
Besides his wife Margaret, he is survived by: his daughters, Debra Ronca (Nick), Pamela Nichols (Kevin) and Christine Kleinhenz (Marc); eight grandchildren, Jennifer, David and Jason (Marisela) Ronca, Alexander and Grace Nichols, and William, Elena and Richard Kleinhenz and great-granddaughter, Bella Ronca.
Rev. Vogel was was predeceased by his parents and his brother, Richard.
As a lifelong devoted Lutheran and as a pastor, he enjoyed studying the Bible, church history, hymn writers, and all things pertaining to his ministry.
Other interests included all sports. He was especially a fan of the Red Sox, Mets, Cubs and the Patriots.
He was a longtime member of the National Baseball Hall of Fame, Cooperstown and the Society of Baseball Research.
He also enjoyed books about the Civil War, WWII and mysteries authored by Agatha Christie and others.
His family thanks his many doctors, the staff of the Good Samaritan Home, Hospice, the Eddy, and his caregivers at home for their help during his time of illness.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 31 from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
The funeral service will be Saturday, April 1, 10 a.m. at Emanuel/St. John’s Lutheran Church, 20 South Sixth Street, Hudson. Burial will follow at Cedar Park Cemetery.
Leonard S. Bogucki, Sr. (1936 – 2017)
HUDSON—Leonard S. Bogucki, Sr., 81, of Linlithgo died March 27, 2017 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
He was born January 20, 1936 in Brooklyn.
He is survived by: his wife, Emma (Simmons) Bogucki; four sons, Leonard, Jr., Stanley, Isaac and Joshua; four daughters, Victoria Steve, Valencia Corbett, Valentine Miller and Delia Bank; 13 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his father, Stanley; mother, Anna Zebrowski; brothers, Stanley and Walter; sister, Helen Skabowski and son, John.
Calling hours will be held Thursday, March 30, 6 to 8 p.m. at the Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown. Services will be Friday, March 31, 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Linlithgo Rural Cemetery.

Gilbert J. Gregory, Jr. (1935 – 2017)
CHATHAM—Gilbert John Gregory, Jr. passed away March 27, 2017.
Born December 18, 1935 in Worcester, MA, he was the son of the late Mabel Morton and Gilbert, Sr.
He grew up and was educated in Worcester and left high school to join the Navy, he served from 1954 to 1968. He enjoyed woodworking, model ship building and bowling.
Mr. Gregory is survived by: his loving wife, Carolyn Gregory; his children, Darleen Hills, Donna Gregory, Debra Gregory, Kevin Gregory and Dawn Gregory; his stepsons, Ed and Michael Bemiss; his 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his brother, Donald Gregory and sister, Donna Gonzalez.
Family will receive friends Thursday, March 30 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the French, Gifford, Preiter and Blasl Funeral Home 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham.

Beverly Bovat (1930 – 2017)
VALATIE—Beverly A. Bovat, 86, of Claverack died Sunday, March 26 at Barnwell Nursing Facility.
Born March 28, 1930 in Enosburg, VT, she was the daughter of Walter and Mary (Buskey) Tatro.
Survivors include: her children, Linda Rogers of Minneola, FL, Susan (Eugene) Smith of Catskill, Kenneth (Barbara) Bovat of Hudson, Cynthia (Sean) Morgan of Portland, OR, and Lisa (Jeffery) Barton of Groveland, FL; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Bovat was predeceased by her husband, Kenneth Bovat in 2009.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bates & Anderson Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
Doris M. Kipp (1922 – 2017)
VALATIE—Doris M. Kipp, 94, of Hudson died Sunday, March 26 at Barnwell Nursing Center with her family by her side.
Born May 3, 1922 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Irving and Beatrice (Rivenburg) Kipp.
Mrs. Kipp lived her entire life in Hudson, where she worked for 34 years at Farmer’s National Bank which eventually became Key Bank. She was a member of the Greenport Senior Citizens, the Trippers, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling and playing card games with her family and friends.
She will be deeply missed by: her loving family members, Barbara, Tiffany and Joe, Sabrina and James, and Jessica; her great-grandchildren, Hunter, Addison and Kaylin; numerous extended family members.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 30, 10 a.m. from the Bates and Anderson – Redmond and Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Interment will be in the family plot at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Hook. Visitation hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday, March 29 from 4 to 6 p.m.
