State of Emergency declared for Columbia County

HUDSON—Columbia County Board of Supervisors Chairman Matt Murell declared a State of Emergency for Columbia County beginning at noon Tuesday, March 14 and continuing in effect for a period of 36 hours and ending at 12:01 a.m. March 16.

Ancram Supervisor Art Bassin has issued the same declaration for the entire Town of Ancram.

Each declarations says:

“The State of Emergency has been declared due to emergency conditions produced by heavy snow and winds causing hazardous conditions which threaten or imperil the public safety of the citizens of this municipality.

“As Chief Executive of this municipality, I have exercised the authority given to me under New York State Executive Law, Article 2-B, to preserve the Public Safety and hereby render all required and available assistance vital to the security, well-being, and health of the citizens of this community.

“I hereby direct all personnel, departments and service providers of the Town of Ancram including the Highway Department, Town Clerk, and Fire and Ambulance Companies and Districts to take whatever steps necessary to protect life and property, public infrastructure, and to take, implement, and render such other emergency assistance as deemed necessary.”
