Julia “Sheila” Jantzen (1931 – 2017)
RHINEBECK—Julia “Sheila” Jantzen, 85, of Clermont passed away peacefully with her family by her side Thursday, June 8, 2017 at Northern Dutchess Hospital.
She was born at home on the family farm in Mountnicholas, County Kerry, Ireland, October 15, 1931 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Johanna Gaynor Marshall.
She immigrated to the United States at 22. Although her intended destination was Chicago, when the ship docked in NYC, she found her home. She married Alfred T. Jantzen June 25, 1955 at St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook. He predeceased her March 2, 2009.
While living in the Bronx, Mrs. Jantzen worked for Y & R Advertising Agency until her family relocated to Columbia County in 1960. While raising her children, she helped her husband in the family businesses, which included real estate and Cedar Hill Farm. She lived for her husband and children, who meant everything to her.
Her unshakeable faith and devotion to God carried her through the good times and the bad. She was a longtime communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook.
Mrs. Jantzen is survived by: her children, Ann (Garret) O’Connor of Clermont, Thomas (Nancy) Jantzen of Clermont, Linda (John) Gall of Clermont, Virginia Perkins of Hamilton, MA, Sheila (Dudley) Dietrich of Austin, TX, Alfred J. Jantzen of Clermont and Patricia (Ed) Quinones of Monroe; two sisters, Annie Leen and Bridie Landers, both of County Kerry, Ireland; her loving grandchildren, Kayley and Kyle O’Connor, Thomas, Ryan, Matthew and Liam Jantzen, Sarah, Emily and Daniel Gall, Julia, Kimberly and Phillip Perkins, and Emma Quinones; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a sister, Mary Marshall.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, June 16, 2017, 10 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Burial will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne.

Diana B. Ladden (1951 – 2017)
PITTSFIELD, MA—Diana Burke Ladden, daughter of John and Beverly Burke lately of Tucson, died unexpectedly at Berkshire Medical Center June 6.
She is survived by Jim, her husband of 35 years; her sister, Christine and beloved pets, Shea and Trilby.
Her first job after graduating from Smith College was as a go-go dancer in Newark, New Jersey. Her subsequent career path was unorthodox but highly successful.
She was in turn a bookbinder, retail manager, jewelry designer, milliner to the stars, gallery owner, novelist and Pilates instructor.
She won two national journalism awards during her years at the Columbia County Independent, and was well-known both for her tenacity as a reporter and her charm. People loved to talk to her, even when perhaps they should have kept quiet when speaking to a reporter.
She retired in 2016 after five years as Columbia County’s Commissioner of Jurors.
Her retirement was even more exuberant than her working life.
Mrs. Ladden loved painting, gardening, opera, tennis and all artistic endeavors. She had a talent for turning out beautiful works from apparent chaos. She was a gifted baker and a generally lousy cook. People who knew her will be familiar with her random acts of generosity and kindness.
Her slightly odd sense of humor and infectious laugh will be greatly missed.
A memorial and celebration will take place at Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake, Saturday, June 24 from 1 to 4 p.m.

Barbara I. Wilson (1923 – 2017)
TROY—Barbara I. Wilson of Troy passed away June 7, 2017 at the Eddy Heritage House.
She is survived by: four daughters. Cheryl VanWie (Leroy) of Clifton Park, Pamela Beck (Walter) of Canaan, Lori Farinacci and Charles Torre of North Greenbush and Candace Farinacci (James) of Troy; 11 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Francis W. Wilson.
A private service will be held at a later date in Shelburne, Vermont.

Richard G. Paganelli (1926 – 2017)
BRUNSWICK—Richard G. Paganelli, 90, of Brunswick, a longtime Germantown-area resident, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at home surrounded by his family.
Born July 31, 1926 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, he was the son of the late Dr. Americus and Lucy (Finn) Paganelli.
He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He leaves his wife of 64 years, Berniece (Slezak) Paganelli; his daughter, Pamela and her husband Francis Hollon; his grandchildren, Dr. Tricia Wurster and her husband Mark Kuper, Janine Hollon, Jeremy Hollon and Joseph Hollon.
Mr. Paganelli served in the United States Army Third Tank Division in Central Europe where he earned the Purple Heart.
After his military service, he graduated from Pennsylvania Military College (Widener College) in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
Mr. Paganelli dedicated his career to microbiology research. He was technical director and biologist at Taconic Farms, Inc. for 22 years.
He was passionate about spending time with his family, travel and golfing with his friends. He was active in his community and served on the Clermont Town Planning Board.

Lisa M. Morgan (1959 – 2017)
PITTSFIELD, MA—Lisa Marie Morgan, 57, of Pittsfield, MA, passed away Monday, June 12.
Born November 14, 1959, she was the daughter of Clarke and Shirley Morgan of Valatie.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by: her brother, Tim Morgan; sister and brother-in-law, Kim and Douglas Beckley; aunt and uncle, JoAnne and Robert Seidel; cousins, Renee, Mark and Angie.
A creative and energetic individual, Ms. Morgan pursued many activities such as cooking and baking; cheesecakes were one of her specialties.
She was a proficient seamstress and never hesitated to try something new; often excelling in those things that she attempted. She ran for the track team and sang in the choir at Chatham High School, graduating in 1978. She participated in 4-H and was a member of the NYS Horse Bowl team. After attending Lake Erie College, she worked at Little Farm in Kinderhook and then at a local veterinary clinic. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College and worked as an x-ray technician at hospitals in the Capital Region. An animal lover from an early age, Ms. Morgan enjoyed riding and showing her horse, Velma, for many years. She also traveled to dog shows throughout the North East region with her beloved Welsh-corgi, Buddy, and was overjoyed when he achieved AKC Championship rating in 1983 in Boston, MA. Ms. Morgan was a member of the Berkshire County ARC family since 2012.
She participated in activities at the Center for Development in Lee and met and formed special connections with many people there. She loved music and trips out for socializing or the movies and following the Boston Red Sox and the Philadelphia Eagles. Her cheerful spirit and joy of life were unfailing and an inspiration to many.
Funeral services will be at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street in Valatie, Friday, June 16 at 1 p.m. with Pastor James H. Slater officiating. An hour of visitation takes place at the funeral home prior to the service, from noon to 1 p.m. Private burial will be held at Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Columbia-Greene Humane Society or Berkshire County ARC.
Michael C. Fisher (1975 – 2017)
PITTSFIELD, MA—Michael Christopher Fisher, 42, of New Lebanon died Sunday, June 11, 2017 at the Berkshire Medical Center following an ATV accident.
He was born in Albany, March 24, 1975, the beloved son of Charles A. and Marilyn Gosnell Fisher of Stephentown.
He was raised in East Nassau and was a 1993 graduate of New Lebanon High School. He later attended Hudson Valley Community College in Troy.
He was employed in the construction field with J.H. Maxymillan Construction in Pittsfield, MA, Condron Construction in Lanesborough, MA and was currently a foreman/supervisor with Bervy Excavation in Canaan.
Mr. Fisher was an avid outdoorsman, he loved to be in the woods. He enjoyed his jeeps, snowmobiling, building drag cars and driving them fast, hunting and his old F100 Ford truck “Dukie.” He loved watching the sunrise, sunset and looking up at the stars. He loved being home spending time in his garage laughing and telling stories with his family and friends. He was a man to love and who loved always, spreading it with his signature peace sign. “To know Mikey was to love him.”
In addition to leaving his parents, he was the loving husband of Shari Thomas Fisher; dear brother of Katie L. MacVeigh of New Lebanon; proud uncle of Caleb Michael Fisher MacVeigh; loving and caring step-father of Hope and Charles “C-Man” Gadomski; best friend and “brother” of Casey York. He is also survived by “the boys, Louie and Moose” and many relatives and friends.
Relatives and friends may call at the Hall and Higgins Funeral Home, 457 State Route 43, Stephentown, Saturday, June 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service follows at 1 p.m. Interment follows in East Nassau Cemetery.
