ALBANY – Ichabod Crane and Chatham softball players were selected to the all-state team this year. They include:

First team

Shortstop
Madison Saccento, Sr., Ichabod Crane: The Riders’ prolific leadoff hitter batted .525 with eight doubles and 17 RBIs. Saccento, who will play next at Division II Mercy College, did not make an error in 2017.

Outfield
Gabbie Cox, So., Ichabod Crane: With Calista Phippen pitching, the ball rarely reached the outfield. When it did, Cox tracked it down. In addition to producing three outfield assists, Cox hit .500 with 10 stolen bases to earn Colonial Council first team plaudits.

Pitcher
Calista Phippen, Jr., Ichabod Crane: Committed to play her college softball at Marist, Phippen landed her third consecutive Times Union first team selection after posting a 0.62 ERA and striking out 250 batters over 1131/3 innings. Opponents batted just .108 vs. Phippen. The Colonial Council’s MVP also hit .483 with 37 RBIs.

Second team
Shortstop: Baylee Cox, Chatham

Pitcher: Jenna Skype, Chatham.
