Mary Linda Harrington (1946 – 2017)
ALBANY—Mary Linda Harrington, 70 of Philmont passed away Monday September 4, 2017 at the Albany Medical Center.
She was born September 13, 1946 in Hudson to the late Cecil and Emily (Piester) Blass.
Ms. Harrington was a graduate of the former Roeliff Jansen High School, class of 1964. She later attended Columbia – Greene Community College.
She was a longtime employee of the United States Postal Service and had served as the postmaster in Philmont for several years.
Ms. Harrington was an active volunteer throughout her life with many civic organizations.
She is survived by her life partner of more than 43 years, Martin Miller of Philmont. She also leaves: her son, Jon Harrington of Claverack; cherished granddaughter, Brittany Lynne Harrington of Clifton Park; her siblings, Jim Blass of West Copake, Gerry Blass of Chatham and Wendy Dodds Greene of Craryville along with many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Tracey Lynne Harrington in 1987 and a brother, Tommy Blass.
At Ms. Harrington’s request, there will be no calling hours and services will be private.
Interment will be in the Copake Cemetery with Vicar Jackie Jefferson officiating.

Frederick Sherrington (1944 – 2017)
HUDSON—Frederick D. Sherrington, 73, of Livingston died September 2, at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born March 19, 1944 in Montreal, Quebec, he was the son of Frederick and Christine (Palmer) Sherrington.
Mr. Sherrington was a fruit grower for Smith Farms in Livingston.
“He was my lighthouse, now he has joined the source of all light,” according to his wife, Gilliane.
In addition to his wife Gilliane (Brodeur) Sherrington, he is survived by: children, Frederick R. Sherrington, Christine A. Sherrington and Douglas J. Sherrington; three grandchildren; sisters, E.J. and Judith Sherrington; numerous friends and extended family also survive.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 9, 2017, 11 a.m., at the Mt. Pleasant Reformed Church, 33 Church Road, lower Greenport.

Tara Shanagher (1958 – 2017)
HUDSON—Tara Shanagher, 59, passed away September 7, 2017.
She was born April 18, 1958 in Brooklyn to the late Hubert and Helen (Knudson) Shanagher.
She was raised in Massapequa Park Long Island and attended St. Rose of Lima School and graduated from St. John the Baptist High School.
In 1979 she graduated from Columbia-Greene Community College Nursing School as a registered nurse.
Ms. Shanagher went on to work as a pediatric nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital in New York City and Stoneybrook Hospital in Long Island, before doing home health nursing.
She is survived by: six brothers, James, Peter, Brian, Patrick, John and Donald; four sisters, Laureen Shanagher, Donna Aly, Cathy Seftner and Eillen Shanagher; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Moria Scirico.
A funeral service will be held Monday, September 11, 2017, 6 p.m. at Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Visitation will precede the service beginning at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Columbia-Greene Humane Society.
Nancy S. Elliott (1942 – 2017)
KINDERHOOK—Nancy S. Elliott, wife of the late Thomas A. Elliott, mother, sister and gardener died peacefully at home surrounded by her family and friends Friday, September 8.
She is survived by: daughter, Michelle Eldering (Tom); son, Mark Frances (Kathleen); her loving grandchildren, Ian Walkinshaw (Laura Seymour), Olivia Walkinshaw, Matthew Eldering, Morgan Davis (Tyler), Megan Frances, Christopher Frances, Hannah Frances and Kyla Elliott as well as her devoted sister, Betty Krott. She was stepmother to the late Thomas M. Elliott.
Mrs. Elliott loved gardening, the Maine coast, and road trips with her sister. She cherished freedom and always enjoyed a laugh with her friends and family. She was a member of Cornerstone Fellowship Church and served in numerous ministries at the church. She will be greatly missed by her family, as well as her church family. She will be remembered for her sense of humor and free spirit.
Calling hours will be held at Raymond Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday September 11. Funeral services will be at the Cornerstone Fellowship Church, 62 Chatham Street, Kinderhook, 11 a.m., Tuesday, September 12 with burial to follow.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Elliott Scholarship Fund at the Ichabod Crane Central School.
Martha S. Reid (1926 – 2017)
POUGHKEEPSIE—Martha S. Reid, 91, of Red Hook passed away September 8, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center.
Born July 10, 1926 in Hazelton, PA, she was the daughter of the late Onufer and Julia (Dran) Sharwarko.
She graduated from Hazelton High School and Susquehanna University.
Mrs. Reid was trained in laboratory technology and worked in Scranton, PA, and West Point Hospital.
She married George M. Reid, Jr., June 6, 1951 in Hazelton, PA. He predeceased her May 3, 2010 after 59 years of marriage.
Mr. and Mrs. Reid resided in several states and Germany with the U.S. Army until 1956 when they came to New York with IBM. They moved to Red Hook in 1957.
Mrs. Reid was a communicant of St. Christopher’s Church in Red Hook for more than 60 years and was a member of St. Christopher’s Church Ladies Guild.
She was a past leader of the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, and was past president of the Red Hook Garden Club. She also was active in all of her children’s activities and was instrumental in local fund drives—including those for the Red Hook Pool and Rec Park.
Mrs. Reid is survived by: her children and their spouses, David A. and Jean Reid of Kissimmee, FL, William A. and Karen Reid of Scarborough, ME, Brian T. and Lisa Reid of Red Hook and Nancy R. and Thomas Jantzen of Clermont; her loving grandchildren, Alison, Karl, Kelley and Logan Reid, and Thomas, Ryan, Matthew and Liam Jantzen; her sister-in-law, Marion Gannon of Laurel, MD, along with several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by her son, George M. Reid, III; her grandson, Karl Reid and her siblings, Ted, John and Anna.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, September 14, 2017, 11 a.m. at St. Christopher’s Church, Red Hook. Burial will be at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
