Patricia Langan (1935 – 2017)
SCHENECTADY—Patricia Ann Langan, age 82, passed away November 1, 2017 at Kingsway Arms.
She was born May 5, 1935 in New York City and spent the majority of her adult life living in Manhattan.
She had a long career as a journalist working at the Time/Life Fortune magazine (1965 to 1993). She was an avid skier and a notable article was her “Adventure in the High Bugaboos” published in the December 1977 issue of Fortune. She will also be remembered for her freelance writing for the New York Times travel section, Skiing Magazine and the Dun & Bradstreet Reports. She was a Fulbright scholar (1989 to 1990) at the University of Japan in Urasa, Japan. In addition, she was employed as lecturer faculty at Chuo University in Tokyo.
Ms. Langan was a member and contributor to the Japan society in New York City. She was the oldest child of Daniel J. Langan and Elfrieda Langan of Kinderhook. She was predeceased by her parents and brother, Daniel J. Langan, Jr.
She is survived by: her sister, Joan Langan of Kauai, Hawaii; nephew, Stephen Langan (SunAe Langan) of Wynantskill; niece, Mary Langan of Kinderhook and many cousins. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 14, noon at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, followed by burial at St. John the Baptist Church Cemetery in the Langan family plot. Calling hours will be from 10 a.m. to noon at the funeral home prior to the service. The family requests that memorial donations be made to the NYC Public Library in Ms. Langan’s name.
Ola Wiencke Flournoy (1925 – 2017)
GHENT—Ola F. Wiencke Flournoy, 92, formerly of Craryville, passed away Sunday, November 5, 2017 at the Whittier Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Center.
She was born September 17, 1925 in Monroeville, AL, the daughter of Lawrence and Minnie (Craft) Faulk.
Ms. Flournoy worked throughout the years at numerous local mills and factories including the Hudson Pocketbook Factory.
She enjoyed sewing, quilting and making garments for her family, often without patterns.
She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and spending time with family.
She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy Wiencke, Sr.
Survivors include: her five children, Cynthia Scott and Sara Lownsbury of Rensselaer, Fredericka Wright of Claverack, Leroy Wiencke, Jr. and wife Angela of Craryville and Barbara Scutt and husband Dell, also of Craryville; 10 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
A family memorial service will be held at a later date.

John W. Wallace (1943 – 2017)
CHATHAM—John W. Wallace passed away November 7, 2017 at home.
Born November 19, 1943 in Manhattan, he was the son of the late Alexander and Catherine Langan Wallace.
He grew up in Manhattan and went on to join the New York State Police, where he spent 31 years and achieved the rank of lieutenant colonel. He enjoyed his time on the job and after retirement he became the owner of the Gray Rider Real Estate Company.
Mr. Wallace had many interests. He was the former chairman of the Chatham Republican Committee and former president of New York Oath Keepers. He was the grand knight of the Our Lady of the Rosary K. of C., cast member of Chatham Improv and usher and communicant of Saint James Church.
Mr. Wallace is survived by: his wife, Anastasia; daughters, Allison, Kathleen and Mary and son-in-law, Larry.
Family will receive friends at the French, Gifford, Preiter & Blasl Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham, Friday, November 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 11, 11 a.m. at Saint James Church.
