Margaret I. Sheedy (1929 – 2017)

VALATIE—Margaret I. Sheedy, 88, of Valatie, formerly of Greenport, died Friday, November 3, 2017 at Barnwell Health Facilities.

Born July 7, 1929 in Troy, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Hickey) McNamara.

Mrs. Sheedy was a homemaker, a communicant of the Church of St. Joseph, and a member of the Greenport Garden Club and Catholic Daughters of America.

She is survived by: four children, Michael Sheedy of Hudson, Timothy Sheedy of Columbiaville, Lynne Martin of Hyde Park and Elizabeth Sheedy of Stuyvesant Falls; five grandchildren, Meghan, Meara, Amanda, Ashley and Shane; two great-grandchildren; Nora and Maeby.

She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph R. Sheedy, and her son, Peter Sheedy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 7, 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Joseph, Stuyvesant Falls, with the Reverend George Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Greenport.

Calling hours will be Monday, November 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. Memorial contributions may be made to The Community Hospice of Columbia / Greene, 47 Liberty Street, Catskill 12414.

Charles Orlando (1937 – 2017)

HUDSON—Charles Orlando, 80, of Stone Mill Road in Claverack passed away Friday, November 3, 2017 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.

He was born May 30, 1937 in Mt. Vernon, the son of Samuel and Frances (Basilotta) Orlando.

He was a graduate of Edison High School in Mt. Vernon and later was employed as a supervisor with Globe Auto Parts, also in Mt. Vernon.

Mr. Orlando served his country with the United States Army from 1960 to 1963 and later as a reservist with the Army National Guard, 42nd Battalion. He was a member of the Hudson American Legion Post #184 and a life member of the Copake VFW Post.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Hope Parish in Copake Falls, a Eucharistic minister, member of the bereavement committee and assisted with the weekly Wednesday Men’s Work Group. He was also a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus #316 in Hudson.

On April 10, 1999 at St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church he married Corinne (McGowan) Orlando, who survives him at home in Claverack.

Also surviving are: his children, Diedre and Charles; his stepchildren, Margaret, Tommy, John, Kathleen, Patricia, Robert, Theresa and Brian; 17 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by one grandchild.

Friends are invited and may call Monday November 6, 2017 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22 in Copake.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, November 7, 2017, 10 a.m. from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope in Copake Falls.

Interment services with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. at Rose Hill Memorial Park in Putnam Valley.

In lieu of flowers and in keeping with Mr. Orlando’s wish to assist others donations may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
