Henry G. Daley (1949 – 2018)
PHILMONT—Henry Gene Daley, age 68, passed away at his home in Philmont, March 31, 2018.
He was born April 7, 1949 in Mahopac to Raymond Crawford Daley and Julia Lee Daley.
He was the second oldest of eight children including: Linda (Vicky Jo) Benson, Nancy Daley, Raymond W. Daley, Loretta Daley, Glenn A. Daley (deceased), Susan Daley and Daniel R. Daley.
He is survived by: his daughters, Sharon M. Ostrander, Lisa R. Daley and Cindy L. Daley; two granddaughters, Kimberly Ostrander and Stephanie Sweet; many aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
Mr. Daley was a retired Marine who was very dedicated to the armed forces and his church—Word and Faith Ministries. He was very giving of his time to help his friends and family.
Mr. Daley will be remembered for his big heart and personality—one always knew when he was in the room—as well as his ever-present sense of humor. He loved his family more than anything. He will be incredibly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Katherine J. Edwards (1931 – 2018)
GREAT BARRINGTON, MA—Katherine J. Edwards, 86, of Hillsdale passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Fairview Hospital.
She was born November 7, 1931 in Detroit, MI, to George and Louisa Goodall.
Mrs. Edwards was a former longtime resident of Phoenix, AZ, before moving locally in 1995.
Along with her husband, Bill, she volunteered to deliver Meals on Wheels. She was also an accomplished pilot and concert pianist.
On June 12, 1951 in Phoenix, AZ, she married William John Edwards, who survives her at home.
Also surviving are: her children, Kathy Venzor of Phoenix, AZ, Diane Johnson of Taos, NM, and David Edwards of Phoenix, AZ; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the Edward’s family.

George K. Wittlinger, Jr. (1960 – 2018)
POUGHKEEPSIE—George K. Wittlinger, Jr., 57, of Ancramdale passed away Sunday, April 8, 2018 at Vassar Bros. Hospital.
He was born June 29, 1960 in Glen Cove, the son of George Wittlinger, Sr., and Agnes Wittlinger, both of Ancramdale.
Prior to his illness Mr. Wittlinger was employed as a welder with Dutchess Diesel in Millerton.
He was a former member of the Ancram Fire Company, a member of the Ancram Lutheran Church and former Boy Scout leader.
Surviving are: his father and wife, George and Ruth Wittlinger Sr.; his mother, Agnes Wittlinger; a daughter, Jackie Wittlinger and a brother, Daniel Wittlinger, all of Ancramdale.
He was predeceased by his son, James John Wittlinger earlier this year.
Funeral services will be held from the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake with Vicar Jackie Jefferson officiating, Friday, April 13, 2018 at 2:30 p.m.
Friends are invited and may call also Friday from noon to 2:30 p.m.
Private interment will be held at a later date.

Louise T. McCormack (1921 – 2018)
POUGHKEEPSIE—Louise T. McCormack, 96, of Poughkeepsie, formerly of Craryville (Columbia County), passed peacefully Sunday, April 8, 2018 at the Lutheran Care Center.
She was born November 14, 1921 in New York City to Dominick and Domenica (Rossi) Zazzera.
A housewife, she was formerly employed at the Craryville Grocery.
While residing in Craryville she was a communicant of the former St. Bridget’s Roman Catholic Church in Copake Falls. Upon moving to Poughkeepsie she attended St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church.
During her time in Poughkeepsie she was a member of RSVP, the Retired Senior Volunteer Program and also served as a foster grandparent.
Mrs. McCormack was predeceased by her husband, Thomas McCormack and her son, Brian McCormack.
Survivors include: her children, Barbara Severance of Poughkeepsie, Dr. Thomas McCormack of Troy and Patricia Quinn of Austerlitz; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited and may call at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home, 8063 Route 22, Copake, Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 5 to 7 p.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, April 13, 2018, 10 a.m. from the Parish of Our Lady of Hope, 8074 State Route 22, Copake Falls with the Reverend George Brennan officiating.
Interment will follow in St. Bridget’s Cemetery.

Sam W. Dawson, Sr. (1919 – 2018)
HILLSDALE—It is with great sorrow that the family of Sam Wilson Dawson, Sr., announces his passing Sunday, April 8, 2018.
He was born to Robert J. and Annie Armstrong Dawson in Mt. Vernon, March 12, 1919.
He was married to Edna “Babe” Dawson for 70 years. She passed away four months ago.
Mr. Dawson was always involved with his family.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ann (Bill) O’Connell, Sandy Dawson (Dave); son, Sam, Jr., and Sharon; seven grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers; one sister and his daughter, Betsey Sue.
Mr. Dawson attended a one-room school house down the road from the farm and then moved to the Washington Hotel for two years before the Roeliff Jansen Central School opened. He graduated from Roe Jan in 1939. He and his wife owned and operated a dairy farm in North Hillsdale all of their lives.
Mr. Dawson took great pride in helping his community and friends. Over the years he was involved in starting the Rails to Trails in Copake and Hillsdale. He was a member of the Out of School Farmers, a 4H leader and an advisor to the Roe Jan Agricultural Program. He was a bus driver at Roe Jan/Taconic Hills for 19 years regularly running the Green River, Route 22, route. He also served on the Taconic Hills School Board for eight years. He served the Town of Hillsdale as town assessor for 14 years, town councilmen for four years and as town supervisor for four two-year terms. He also was chairman of the Columbia County Soil and Water Conservation District for seven years. He was a lifelong member of the North Hillsdale Methodist Church helping to move the steeple bell from Harlemville to North Hillsdale. He was a 70-year member of the Hillsdale Fire Department, and had served as president. He was also a Mason serving in several positions. Hunting was a hobby and a passion for Mr. Dawson—whether he was raccoon hunting with his dogs, turkey hunting with friends, deer hunting locally and on an occasional trips. He also was one of the lucky few to receive a moose permit in Vermont and bring home some meat for all to share. He also worked and was president of the Hillsdale cattle auction for several years.

Funeral services will be held at the North Hillsdale Methodist Church, Saturday, April 14 at 11 a.m.
Interment will follow at the North Hillsdale Cemetery.
A celebration of Mr. Dawson’s life will follow at the Hillsdale Firehouse at 1 p.m.

Carl J. Vullo (1952 – 2018)
PHILMONT—Carl Joseph Vullo, 66, of Hudson passed away Tuesday, April 3 at the Pine Haven Nursing Facility with his family by his side.
Born January 6, 1952 in Brooklyn, he was the son of Carlo and Pietrina (LoMeo) Vullo.
He graduated from St. Mary’s Academy, class of 1970; Columbia-Greene Community College, class of 1972 and the State University of New York at Albany, class of 1973, with a degree in political science. Mr. Vullo was a consummate gentleman, with a kind heart and compassionate soul. He was very generous to his family and friends, and was the one to lend a helping hand whenever needed. He was a devoted New York Yankees fan and loved James Bond movies, considered by some to be a Bond trivia expert.
Survivors include: his sister, Ann Merante and fiancé Mario Farina; brother, Frank (Pat) D’Angelo; nephews, Peter (Robin) Merante and Frank D’Angelo, Jr.; niece, Michelle (Dale) Gardner; great-niece and nephew, Jessica Merante Francis and Peter Merante, Jr.; several great-great-nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, April 11, 10 a.m. from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Visitation at the funeral home will be Tuesday evening from 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Ruth Ann Elsom (1936 – 2018)
SUGARLOAF, PA—Ruth Ann (House) Elsom, 81 of Sugarloaf, PA, previously of Cairo, passed away April 9, 2018 at home surrounded by her family.
She was born in Hudson, November 2, 1936. She was the daughter of Clifford House and Ethel (Hawver) House.
On September 6, 1959 she married Charles Elsom and they raised four children in Greenport, NY and Conyngham, PA.
She graduated from Hudson High School and attended nurses’ training at Columbia Memorial Hospital in Hudson. She was a nurse for more than 40 years, with much of her nursing career spent at Albany Medical Center in Albany.
She is survived by: her four children, Derek Elsom, Douglas Elsom, Darrin Elsom and Deirdre (James) Cibak; three grandchildren, Kyle (Caroline) Cibak, Kristen Cibak and Kevin Cibak; brother, Leon (Melvina) Simmons; many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, who passed away in 2006; brothers, Clifford and Robert and sister Leslie.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday, April 12, 2018 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Friday, April 13 from 10 to 11 a.m at the Bates and Anderson Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson.
