Loren W. Wheeler ( 1934 – 2018)

CRARYVILLE—Loren Wayne Wheeler died April 27, 2018.

He was born October 2, 1934 in Salina, Kansas, the son of Chet and Helen Wheeler.

He graduated with business degrees from Kansas University and Denver University, worked for F.W. Woolworth, then as a manufacturer’s representative at the national headquarters of F.W. Woolworth in New York City. Simultaneously he served as president and treasurer at the New York Theosophical Society Lodge in NYC.

Mr. Wheeler served as treasurer on the Board of Directors for Pumpkin Hollow Foundation from 1980 until his passing. He commuted from NYC to Pumpkin Hollow for 27 years working to sustain and maintain Pumpkin Hollow Retreat Center. Retiring in 1999, he joined his wife-to-be in residence at Pumpkin Hollow, where he volunteered full-time. Mr. Wheeler was custodian of the sanctuary grounds which he served devotedly until his passing.

Recognized by all as a warm, generous, open-hearted gentleman, with a steady vision for the greater whole, he believed in supporting community. Many people in business and service professions became close with him as they worked together at Pumpkin Hollow.

Mr. Wheeler is survived by: his beloved wife of 44 years, Carolyn. He was a loving father to Brian, Valerie, Eric and Amy (and their spouses), grandfather of nine and brother of Don Wheeler, all of whom reside in Colorado.

Teresa Miller (1925 – 2018)

VALATIE—Teresa Miller, 93, of Valatie died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at The Grand at Barnwell.

Born February 6, 1925 in East Kingston, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Mary (Carpino) Tiano.

She had worked for K-Mart in Staten Island for many years.

She is survived by: three children, Donald H. Miller (Phyllis) of Niagara Falls, Michael G. Miller of Bethel CT, and Diane S. Maniatia (Dennis) of Port St. Lucie, FL; a brother, Ralph; a sister, Margaret; five grandchildren, Catherine, Melissa, David, Teresa and Wesley; two great-grandchildren, Allyssa and Elena; a niece, Debbie Ames; many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, Howard Miller.

Private funeral services and burial were in Woodlawn Cemetery, Valatie. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Valatie Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 242, Valatie 12184. Arrangements are with the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie.
