Anna M. Houghtaling (1930 – 2018)
STOTTVILLE—Anna Marie Cordato Houghtaling, 88, of Stottville passed away August 6, 2018.
Born April 6, 1930 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Melinda (Molly) (DeJoy) and John C Cordato.
Mrs. Houghtaling retired from L & B Products.
She was the loving mother of her children, Lewis P. (Bettyann) Houghtaling, III, Melinda (Angelo) Novak, John (Patty) Houghtaling, Debbie (Kevin) Houghtaling, Daniel (Maryann) Houghtaling, Loreen (Dale) Hilton, and son-in-law Nicholas Berlin. She was a devoted grandmother to Nicole (Nick) Wendelkin, Angela (Sean) Demerast, Charles (Trudy) Novak, Michael (Christine) Novak, Nathan (Breanne) Novak, John (Michele) Houghtaling, Amy (John) Spoto, Jamie Houghtaling, Daniel (Crystal) Houghtaling, and Anna Marie (Chris) Delaney. She is also survived by 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Patsy (Violonda) Cordato, Alice Cordato; special cousin, Matilda Schmoltz Wagner; sister-in-law, Margaret Altomer; goddaughter, Maryann Schiable; many nieces, nephews, and special friends, Jeanie, Roseann, Fran and Louise.
Mrs. Houghtaling was predeceased by her husband, Lewis P. Houghtaling, Jr.; daughter, Maryann Houghtaling Berlin; grandchildren, Lewis P. Houghtaling, lV, Joseph Kosnick, Constance Meano; brothers, Joseph Cordato, John C. Cordato; sisters, Margaret Cordato Chewning and Matilda (Ross) Shook.
Her beautiful smile and her love for everyone will be greatly missed.
Funeral services from the Bates & Anderson-Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson take place Monday, August 13 at noon. Visitation hours from 10 am to noon will precede the funeral service. Interment will be in West Ghent Cemetery.
Charles V. Elliott (1936 – 2018)
PHILMONT—Charles V. Elliott, 81, passed away August 7, 2018 at Pine Haven Nursing Home.
He was born September 29, 1936 in Pittsfield, NY, to Adrian and Harriett (Weidman) Elliott.
Mr. Elliott worked as a supervisor at Columbia Box until his retirement. He will be remembered as a man who was devoted to his family, and absolutely adored his grand- and great-grandchildren.
Mr. Elliott is survived by: his loving wife of 62 years, Lora Beth (Jones); his children, Anthony and his wife Donna, Mitchell and his wife Susan, and Desiree Elliott and her companion Jeffrey Wallentine; his four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his brothers, Wally and Doug.
He was predeceased by his sister, Juanita Elliott and brothers, Carl, Dan and Jerry.
Graveside services will be held at Mellenville Union Cemetery at the convenience of the family.

Mary H. Lewicki (1921 – 2018)
PHILMONT—Mary Helen Twardy Lewicki, 97, passed peacefully at Pine Haven Home, August 12, 2018.
Born August 4, 1921 in Hudson, she was the daughter of Catherine and John Twardy.
Mrs. Lewicki was a registered professional nurse who worked in multiple hospitals across the country, but spent most of her career at Columbia Memorial Hospital and as office nurse for Dr. Tamton Mustapha.
She was an active member of Sacred Heart and St. Mary’s churches, the Ladies Sodality and Catholic Daughters.
She was an avid basketball and softball player, and loved to read, knit and eat chocolate.
Her husband of 55 years, Michael Lewicki, Sr., passed in 1999.
Mrs. Lewicki is survived by: three children, Michael (Carol) of Citrus Springs, FL, Thomas (JoAnn) of Hudson and Mary Ellen (Derek) of Guilderland.
A blended family gifted Mrs. Lewicki with many grand- and great-grandchildren, Allyson (Dustin) Neefus, and Alexis, Tyler, and Chrissy Neefus; David Weed, and David, Jr., and Aiden Weed; Nicole Weed; Amy (Michael) Clark and Megan, Emily, Isabelle and Ryan Clark; Bryan (Kristen) Cranna and Kieran and Shane Cranna; Jonathan (Brandi) Plass; Stefanie Plass, Bryan and Everett Jones; along with many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, August 15 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the M. Grimaldi Funeral Home, 25 Railroad Avenue, Chatham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Trinity Church, East Allen Street, Hudson, Thursday morning, August 16, inquire at funeral home for time.
Edward J. Kresa (1931 – 2018)
RHINEBECK—Monday, August 13, 2018, Edward “Eddie” John Kresa, age 86, of Utica passed away in peace after an extended illness. In recent months, it was clear that he began battling with the inescapable complications that come with living a full and worthwhile life.
A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, August 18, 9 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 1206 Lincoln Avenue, Utica. He will be laid to rest at Holy Trinity Cemetery, 1500 Champlain Avenue, Utica. There are no calling hours.
He was born September 18, 1931 in Utica to Jan Joseph and Stefania (Dombrowski) Kresa. He was the youngest of his many brothers: Stanley, Frank, Walter, Joseph and Stephen. He attended Kernan School and completed his ninth-grade education at Utica Free Academy. He later earned his GED at the age of 50, completing his education. He was one of the “Frozen Chosin,” a veteran of the Korean War. He enlisted in the U.S. Army April 11, 1949 and was assigned to Army base camp in Camp Cooke, CA. He was assigned to B Company, 532d as an engineer and served as a medical aid man. Corporal Kresa served his country honorably and was discharged June 20, 1952. Mr. Kresa was married May 11, 1968 to Patricia Ann Graves in Utica. Dissolution of marriage was rendered June 26, 1984.
He was predeceased by his dear friend of 17 years, Mary Lawendowski. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He retired from the City of Utica, Department of Public Works at age 70. He worked for the City of Utica in the Water Department, Surveyors Offices and Parks Department. Mr. Kresa was an avid fisherman and enjoyed local trout fishing. He enjoyed going to the OTB and Vernon Downs as a horse racing enthusiast, and liked to go to the casino with his friends and family. He was a life-member of the Whitesboro American Legion Post 1113 in Whitesboro and member of the Polish Community Club in Utica. He loved his family most of all. His motto was, “be prepared,” and he was. He lived a long life and went in peace to see the Lord in dignity. He was a good man who loved his family more than anything in this life. He was well-respected and loved by his family, friends and community.
He is survived by: his children, Edward Joseph Kresa and his wife Delia of Houston, TX, Lisa Ann (Kresa) Cochran of MO, Stefania Ann (Kresa) Maruniak and her husband James of Germantown and Susan Ann (Kresa) Rudi and her husband John of FL; eight grandchildren, Lindsey Anne (Chubb) McDonnell, Anthony Kresa, Shawn Michael Foe, Dale Ross Mudgett, Katyalynn Grace Bourgeois, Michael Rudi, Brittany Rudi, Logan Rudi and his niece, Sandra Kaelin of Utica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jan (1960) and Stefania (1980) and his brothers, Stanley (1989), Frank (1944), Walter (1983), Joseph (1926) and Stephen (1939).
The family thanks the Thompson House Skilled Nursing Facility, the Beekman Wing, in Rhinebeck for its loving care and support. Also thank you to George Fox of Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown for all of the arrangements.
