Joshua P. Irish (1976 – 2018)

VALATIE—Joshua P. Irish, 42, of North Chatham died Sunday, August 5, 2018.

He was born April 27, 1976 in North Plainfield, NJ, the son of Deborah and Thomas Light of North Chatham.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1996 to 1999.

Besides his parents, Mr. Irish is survived by: his son, Russel Irish; his sister, Sarah Light of Altamont; maternal grandfather, Harold Williams; paternal grandfather, Edward Light; aunts, Susan Perl and Elizabeth Trenholm and an uncle, David Williams.

Funeral services will be held Friday, August 10, 2018, 11 a.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie, with the Reverend Nick Becker officiating. Burial follows in North Chatham Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday, August 9 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home. Eleanor C. Spiciarich (1928 – 2018)

GERMANTOWN—Eleanor Carol Spiciarich, 90, of Germantown passed away August 7, 2018, surrounded by her family.

Born in Brooklyn July 21, 1928, she was the daughter of Eleanor Tomkiewicz and Nicholas Dapcic.

At age 2, she traveled to Yugoslavia with her mother and brother, Matthew, where they lived until she was 10. They then returned to Brooklyn to reunite with her father.

She attended Prospect Heights High School in Brooklyn, where she graduated as salutatorian. After graduating, she began working at Garcia and Diaz, a shipping company in Manhattan. She was the first female claims manager for the company.

In 1957, she married George Gustav Spiciarich. They lived in Red Hook, Brooklyn until 1964 when they moved upstate to Tivoli. Mr. Spiciarich predeceased her in 1984.

She loved to be engaged with family and friends. She was the sounding board for many. She loved to garden, play word games, do crossword and jigsaw puzzles, and enjoyed finding treasures at yard sales.

Mrs. Spiciarich is survived by: her children: George (Bibiana) Spiciarich of Wilmington, VT, Annmarie Spiciarich of Highland, Carol Spiciarich Mahoney and her former husband, Leonard of Fort Collins, CO, and Linda Spiciarich of Elizaville; her grandchildren, Jillian (Daniel) Atlas of Memphis, TN, and Andrew Spiciarich, Albany; her former daughter-in-law, Andrea and her husband Frank Mastrianni and daughter, Gina; her step-grandchildren, Mike (Ashley) Stuart, John (Tara) Stuart, and Janice (Jared) Karsch; her nephews Michael (Trudy) Dapcic and Stephen (Catherine) Dapcic and her niece, Linda Dapcic-Angst; her nephew, Vincent Spiciarich, as well as nine great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her brother, Matthew and his wife Irene, as well as her brother and sister-in-law, Vincent and Ann Spiciarich and their daughter, Annmarie Berton.

She will be missed by her good friends, Nancy Doyle, Dorothy Clancy and Pat Thayer, as well as other residents of Palatine Manor in Germantown, where she lived for 15 years.

Funeral arrangements are with Yadack-Fox Funeral Home, 209 Main Street, Germantown. Calling hours are Friday, August 10 from 4 to 7 p.m. A Catholic Mass will be Saturday, August 11, 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Parish in Germantown. Interment services will be private at a later date.
