Christopher P. Fitting, Sr. (1929 – 2018)
LIVINGSTON—Christopher Peter “Pete” Fitting, Sr., 89, of Livingston and formerly of Hudson, died peacefully in the early morning Tuesday, December 4, 2018.
Born in Ghent August 10, 1929, he was the son of the late Henry and Clara (Kohlmeier) Fitting.
Mr. Fitting served honorably in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. Later he was a foreman with the Hudson D.P.W. for many years. He was a life-member of the Stockport Fire Company and honorary member of C.H. Evans Hose in Hudson. After his retirement he assisted at Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home for more than 15 years.
He will be greatly missed by: his loving wife, Peggy Ann (Schmeichel) Fitting; his son, Christopher Peter Fitting, Jr., (Darlene); daughters, Clara (Robert) Hill of Rineyville, KY, Hilda (Joe) Jahns of Livingston, Brenda Fitting of Albany; one sister, Marie Shook of Ghent; grandchildren, Jennifer (Billy) Brown, Robert (Erica) Hill, Alesha Marie Fitting; great-grandchildren, Dale Hill, Billy Brown, Sydney Hill and Logan Hill.
Calling hours will be Friday, December 7, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Sacco-McDonald-Valenti Funeral Home, 700 Town Hall Drive, Greenport. Services will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Jonathan Hodges officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Park Cemetery. Kathy M. Cohn (1950 – 2018)
ALBANY—Kathy M. Cohn, 68, of Valatie died Thursday, December 6, 2018 at Albany Medical Center.
Born April 20, 1950 in Catskill, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Clara (Mann) Stockman.
She was a manager at SEFCU in Albany for 10 years, worked for Catholic Charities in Hudson and most recently was a supervisor for the Columbia County Department of Health in Hudson. She enjoyed day trips with her husband, Fred and spending time with her family, especially during the holidays.
She is survived by: her husband, Frederick J. Cohn, III; two sons, Daniel Cohn (Christine) of Stuyvesant Falls and Matt Cohn of Kinderhook; six sisters, Patricia Barber of Castleton, Bonnie Smith of Kinderhook, Karen Oliver of Castleton, Donna Jornov of Stuyvesant, June Eaves of Chatham and JoFern Talarico of Florida; four grandchildren, Ashley, Josh, Ben and Dakota Cohn; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 11, 11 a.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 159 County Route 26A, Stuyvesant, with the Reverend Dan Cohn officiating. Burial will follow in Stuyvesant Falls Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday, December 10 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street (Route 9), Valatie.
Elizabeth A. Bingham (1946 – 2018)
ALBANY—Elizabeth “Betty” A. (Maskill) Bingham, 72, of Brainard died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Albany Medical Center.
Born in Springfield, MA, November 23, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth Ringie Maskill.
Raised in Lebanon Springs, she was a graduate of New Lebanon Central High School. She was employed by the New Lebanon Supermarket, Speedway Diner as a waitress and caterer, Berkshire Life Insurance in Pittsfield as a plan coordinator and most recently was a babysitter at her home for kids in Brainard.
Mrs. Bingham organized parties at the New Lebanon American Legion and was a huge Elvis Presley fan.
She was the wife of the late Ronald “Porky” Bingham; beloved mother of Gina (Dave) Goodermote of Stephentown; grandmother of Meaghan Ann; great-grandmother of “the love of her life” Jason Byron, Olivia Emerald and Aedan Patrick; sister of Ellen (Steve) Lathers of East Nassau; aunt of Nathan Lathers, Tammy (Bill) Sears and their son Michael, Stacey (Mark) Mazzeo and their kids, Gabby and Taylor; sister-in-law of Dale (Harry “Skip) Grant and their daughter, Keri (Donnie) Fiske, Mary (Timothy) Mooney and the late Terry Bingham (wife Judy survives).
The funeral will be Monday, December 10, 1 p.m. at the Hall & Higgins Funeral Home, 457 State Route 43, Stephentown with the Reverend Marie Schilling officiating. Relatives and friends are invited and may call prior to the service at the funeral home Monday, December 10 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Cremation will follow in Gardner Earl Crematory, Troy.
