Shawn E. Miles (1952 -2018)
KINDERHOOK—Shawn E. Miles, 66, of Kinderhook died Monday, December 31, 2018 at her home.
Born April 25, 1952 in Montreal, Canada, she was the daughter of the late Alexander Lodge and Eileen (Paschal) Lodge, who resides in Denver, CO.
Mrs. Miles was a graduate of the Marcy School of Nursing in Rome, NY, and later became a nurse practitioner. She was employed by several Utica-area hospitals and later retired as an analyst from the New York State Social Security Administration in Albany. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and spending time at their home in the Villages in Florida. She loved her puppies, working on puzzles and family events and reunions.
She is survived by: her husband, John R. Miles; two sons, Don R. Miles and Jon R. Miles, both of Kinderhook; four sisters, Karen Jordan and Debra Lodge, both of Denver, CO, Wendy Lodge of Rome, NY, and Vicki Mann of Utica; a granddaughter, Naomi Shawn Miles; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Carol McCaskill.
Calling hours were held Friday, January 4 at the Raymond E. Bond Funeral Home, 1015 Kinderhook Street, Valatie. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund, 11921 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD 20852.
Robert J. Race (1955 – 2019)
HUDSON—Robert “Bobby” J. Race, 63, of Hudson passed away peacefully January 2, 2019.
He was born July 31, 1955 in Hudson, to Oren and Ruth (Hotaling) Race.
He worked in the maintenance department at Columbia-Greene College before his retirement.
Mr. Race is survived by: his three daughters, Bobbi Jo Race, Deshanna Lee (Race) and Nicole Race; his eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his four brothers, Oren, Michael, Wade and Scott; his two sisters, Dawn Marie Porreca, and Deborah Ann Race; several nieces, nephews and his beloved cat, Oreo.
He was predeceased by his parents; two sisters, Sherry E. Campbell and Anita Mae Race; and his brother, Leonard Race.
Funeral services were held Friday, January 4, 2019 from Bates & Anderson – Redmond & Keeler Funeral Home, 110 Green Street, Hudson. Interment followed in Mellenville Union Cemetery.
Stanley Bonczek (1923 – 2019)
HUDSON—Stanley Bonczek, 95, of Claverack died peacefully Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Columbia Memorial Hospital.
Born in Brooklyn November 16, 1923, he was the son of the late Frank and Helen (David) Bonczek.
He was the husband of Irena (Kochanska) Bonczek, who died in 2003.
Mr. Bonczek worked at the former L&B Products in Hudson. He was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish in Hudson.
Mr. Bonczek will be greatly missed by: his sons, Kazimierz and (Christine) Bonczek of Hudson and Antoni Bonczek of Claverack; niece and nephew, Eve Bonczek and Christopher Bonczek.
He was predeceased by sisters, Genowefa Kuciej, Klara Swiercz, Jadwiga Poniatowska and Zofia Gradzik.
Calling hours are private. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, January 8, 2019, 1 p.m. at Holy Trinity Parish, 429 East Allen Street, Hudson with Fr. Winston Bath officiating. Burial will follow in Cedar Park Cemetery.
